Hi Thomas, Try avoiding sipadan.com which they never service their regulator for ages. I worked there for few months and left 2 months ago, their regulators were not really in good condition. Second month I got rashes on my whole body from bedbug. Scubajunkie and uncle chang are the better established center and they provide permit to sipadan island... just saying :P

How is malyasia compared to Indonesia?

Thomas,
Perhentian and all the islands on the east coast of Malaysia are closed for the monsoon now. They usually reopen in late February/early March.

If you're only going to be in peninsula Malaysia, you can try Langkawi island. But it might be expensive.

I got my certification in Kota Kinabalu for a very good price. Borneo is still the best place to dive in Malaysia. And Mabul is awesome. Air Asia has cheap flights! :)

Greetings Thomas,
I've been diving in Malaysia, Bali and Vietnam in past years, but I find diving year around in the Philippines to be the best!! The rain doesn't seem to affect visibility as it does in other countries in SE Asia and in some places (like Cebu) there are a plethoria of dive sites in close proximity...

Also, the cost of living here is far less than Malaysia or Indonesia/Bali and commensurate with Vietnam...

You really should consider coming here for your dive instruction.

Ciao,

Mark

Hi Thomas,
I agree with Mark. I had a few students yesterday and they were surprised that no rain in "rainy season" but this is the case in Cebu. Even in so called rainy season we have very little rain. I am a Padi Scuba Diving Instructor if you get interested.

Happy diving!
