Since I was kindly asked to organize a hiking event, I am very happy to do so. Originally I wanted the starting point to be the Hermannsdenkmal, but the buses up there don't commute during wintertime and the first bus close to Hermannsdenkmal would arrive only at around 11:30 also, which would give us a bit too much way for the little light left of the day - hence I'm cutting the way a bit short, for those who had ahead information about the trail.
The actual trail we'll be following will be the Hermannsweg: http://www.wanderbares-deutschland.de/wanderwege/wanderwege-karte.html#1_2639
. Starting point will be the Adlerwarte Berlebeck: http://www.detmold-adlerwarte.de
. From there we'll move past the Extensteine: http://www.hornbadmeinberg.de/externsteine.html
and follow the trail further past the Velmerstot: http://www.naturpark-teutoburgerwald.de/waypoint+M5527b62fffd.html?&wid=90
(we'll leave the Hermannsweg for that) - and then go back to Horn Bad Meinberg.
For those that want to get to the starting point by car - there's a regular train connection back from Horn Bad Meinberg to Detmold.
Total walking distance should be ~15 kilometers
my # in case you are stuck somewhere or something: +4915206386022
Meeting point will be the bus stop, not the adlerwarte!!
FROM: 27 January 2013 - 11:32
LOCATION: Germany - North Rhine-Westphalia - Detmold
ADDRESS: Adlerweg 13-15 32760 Detmold
that sounds fantastic.
I wonder if anyone joins up coming from Duesseldorf area? It actually takes three and a quarter hour to get to Detmold if the train runs in time...
