a vouching eachother strike?
Posted September 2nd, 2011 - 10:31 am by from Salt Lake City, United States (Permalink)
Changing our pics, editing our profiles, hosting strike, spreading awareness, starting over at bewelcome and bringing new members here is working..

So what about everyone vouching for each other in here? It's another form of rebellion and a way to undermine their whole vouch system since they're so good at undermining the whole CS core mission..

Oh, I've never vouched, so I didn't know you had to meet them in person first.

And yeah, I don't want to be deleted, that's like being arrested at a protest. :D

Wait, so why is there people leaving references on people's profiles too and that's ok? Because I thought that was a little iffy so I didn't partake in all that noise, since I thought you had to meet people in person to leave a reference.

Guess I just thought vouching was just backing someone up, like.. "oh, he's cool"

So if what you say is true, then we have ourselves a sugar coated flimsy ass rebellion in perimeters, then people shouldn't be leaving references on profiles then too ay?

Haha, nice try to get vouches, Brandon :P (kidding)

No, actually, I only feel like vouching if I get to experience smbd's hosting/home/family/enviromnent...or if they really impress me in real life by doing smth.

It makes sense that u can leave refs for smb that u haven't met but u cannot vouch, simply because a ref can always be updated/removed...as for a vouch, never!

Me, personally, I felt very comfortable with how the system worked with vouches/refs and getting verified...but now...everybody just seems worried about where the money goes :(

Also, I wouldn't find the "hosting strike" as the most adequate form of protest, and that because THERE WILL BE INNOCENT TRAVELERS LEFT IN THE STREETS :(...that have nth to do with how stupid the system is going....just like when in Greece for eg protestors block some highways for days...to make the Gov react....but all they get is frustrated travelers or they block ppl who really need to cross those roads!!!

SYSTEMS COULDN'T CARE LESS :(

Kayko, cool pic :))))

crap, figured someone would go there, Anca! :P

Ok, this was a very bad I idea. I'm officially detracting this as it was completely ill-advised, as we could have a serial killer amongst us getting vouches, and then one day a detective would send me an anonymous email.. with the words..
..you have blood on your hands!

Point taken on vouching, Anca.

But please WILL YOU CEASE REPEATING FALSEHOODS. A hosting strike will leave NO TRAVELLORS ON THE STREET. (Your caps get a mirrored response)

Hosts will still host. Travellers will still get couches. They will simply settle on another network.

CS is not the only hospitality network out there. The strike only serves to put pressure on CS Corp while informing guests at the same time.

Your misunderstanding does not entitle you to mischaracterise or otherwise make false declarations about the legitimate dissent carried on by those who choose to follow this course if action.

I am on a C$ hosting strike. But as DEDECASTOR correctly mentions. There are other networks and I am using them.
My main aim is to send as many people looking for those networks rather than give anymore time to CS.

And by the way ANCA-MARIA. There will always be people who fail to plan their travels in advance and people who suffer unexpected troubles and changes of plans. With or without C$ and the other networks there will always be people who have bad experiences and have to spend nights on streets.
This is life.
We cannot remove this dominant feature of existance no matter how hard we try. And frankly I think it is a waste of time to try. A world with no trouble and strife would be so mundane as to drive us all insane. Please don't mistake trouble and strife with suffering and brutality.
You can only judge what is good by what is bad and vice versa. One cannot exist without the other to give it substance.....

Ahh. Sorry started rambeling a bit there.

Go, go the hosting strike.

But CS community has always saved me very last minute (like at 10.00 pm in a remote place, and after half an hour I was safe!)...and I put so much soul in this and I also feel that I owe it a lot...and the communities/groups work so well already...and I was confident that most of us here had the same goal, opening up to the world and embracing selfless help...

...that it's just like ripping a part of my heart and just say yeah, it's hard now...but maybe after another 3 years u'll have the same feeling of belonging in a better place....or not.... :(

Dunno guys, I am too attached and "invested" too much...

BTW, I'm hosting now, while I'm living in Prague, but indeed, ppl don't get to me via CS directly...but not through other communities either...ouf...I got too emotional tonight, huge stuff is happening for me :D
(is there any place for nice, beautiful stories in this world/group??? :) )

"I'm hosting now, while I'm living in Prague"

Not updating your couch location for three months has pretty much the same effect as a strike. How do you want people to find you in couch search if your location is verified but wrong? All of a sudden I can no longer feel comfortable about the value of your verification...

Posted September 2nd, 2011 - 8:56 pm by from Bucharest, Romania (Permalink)
It's not 3 months, it 7 weeks!
And 2 of them were taken already!

And I'm hosting a friend now from Italy, CS, that I ve previously hosted in Bucharest!

And my flatmate (who is also my permanent guest, Dominique, French CS ambasador) HAS his couch (my house) available for hosting!

And next week it will be a huge CS event in Prague and we'll have 16 ppl in the house!!!

And I didn't wanna change location back and forth, because then I must get a post card here, then back in Bucharest....
There, and my shoe size it 39 :) and I bite at nights!

So PLEASE don't feel comfortable with the value of my verification, because I cannot host anymore around this time anyways ;)

BTW, does anybody know how will this work from now on??? How they plan to verify/lock ur address?

Ooooh good mr. ambassador! got me. coming in here spying, trolling and trying to smear me for your lil per diem from corpy.

And I prefer hotels than surfing and prefer hosting, so I doubt I need some stupid vouches for a surfer needing a couch.

"I didn't wanna change location back and forth, because then I must get a post card here, then back in Bucharest...."

You can update your location whenever it is required. No postcard needed to do that. Provided you can live without a green checkmark for a couple of weeks, or longer. Try it, you'll see it won't kill you :-)

With your question about the future you'll have to contact Contact US, or Casey Fenton...

Great Hayko, you just brought my bad idea back to life :P

I thought we were leaving, so we could of all left our pictures & profiles protesting, couch pointing to Bewelcome and had like 1500 some vouches each branding ourselves as dissidents and undermining their plutocracy.

~ We are against CS becoming C$ ~

It il legitimate to fight for the change of rules, but not deliberately breaking previously accepted and unchanged rules.
Also this kind of protest could suggest C$ management to change the rule say in a way ... for example only verified customers could vouch/be vouched .....

Leonardo Boselli,

It seems to me that the "plausible deniability" argument has been used by Casey and his supporters to an obscene extent. Legitimate doubts about the sincereness of

I really don't see how anyone at CS Corp could justify shutting down anyone's profile for for vouching another member. How could they justify saying you don't know another person.

Profiles and references can be deleted arbitrarily anyway. If you want to do it, "Just do it".

I guess I didn't think about, if people stay, then there disingenuous vouches perhaps.

But then again the original CS mission is disingenuous of epic proportions now.

Sounds to me like Brandon's looking for free vouches! Nice try!
