Posted November 7th, 2012 - 12:56 am by from Zefat, Israel (Permalink)
I just received the following instead of the usual couch request. Is this the new Face of CS with the new changes, or have many of you been plagued by scammers before?

Dear, Moshe Gress,

Please forgive this unusual manner of contacting you, but this particular letter is of exceptional and very private nature, I want to introduce my self on this business opportunity to you.My name is mr.zaidi hassan, a fiduciary bank attorney at law. i wish to know if we can work together.

I Would like you to stand as the surviving beneficiary to my deceased client ( Engr. J.P Gress) Who made some deposit of ($12.5million) He died without leaving any WILL and any registered next of kin and as such the funds now have open beneficiary mandate.

Kindly get in touch with me with your information For more guide lines to the repartition
of this fund.

I got two of those scam messages within two weeks of signing up to Be Welcome as well...which isn't a good thing

Who do I report them to? You suggest I message all of my friends? Everytime I get a spam email? Riiiiight...
I think as CS "grows" I trust it less and less. I've had couch requests from people who come off as con-men and have no friends or past experiences. They always ask to come last minute, giving me less time to check them out.
I'm starting to say "NO" to such people by reflex.

I don't trust CS anymore.

I would never have guessed it was even POSSIBLE for someone NOT logged into CS to read our profiles!! Where's the Trust? CS is for registered CS users ONLY -- or so I thought!

I don't care if non-CS people read my profile, there's nothing personal included in it. I often get or offer rides on Craigslist and use my CS profile to show that I'm legit.

I would not offer a couch to someone with an empty profile. But I would offer a couch to someone with no references or friends, as long as the profile was fine.
