But do u think that after reaching a certain number of users...they won't transform them into chat platforms as well??? THEY OWN all this!

Anyway, the thing that they pulled with the groups now it's just a small drop in all the mess they are creating for one year...and it's the last for me!

I don't know if CS transformed the Place groups in that very purpose. Because at first, imho, it makes a lot of sense to have a Place page. You want to go somewhere, you find a page with the hosts, the activities, the message board. It's neat. It should be convenient.

Problem here is that they did it in a way that it's more comfy for the casual w-e traveller, and not for the rest of us. And especially not for the people committed into groups regularly.
So yeah, now it's almost a chat room. Just have a look at the Budapest page for instance, it's full of couchrequests on the board :(

Still don't know if they let this mess going on purpose or by mere incompetence.
This is the first time that I wish someone is "just" incompetent :/

"they did it in a way that it's more comfy for the casual w-e traveller"

I doubt that. Most surfers are misled to believe that those places are the place to post couch requests, and then surprised when they see those getting those posts objected to, ignored, flagged and removed.

The only thing they did is do it in a way which pisses of a maximum of people whose content was archived away, and drive them away by the thousands. Which is fine with me.

Now they even started sending out spam copies of these posts, with links that go nowhere. Couldn't have done a better job at messing things up if I had wanted to :-)

The most plausible theory says that they are trying to ruin CS so that they can pick up the pieces with their other company, airbnb.com. That's an objective which they may actually achieve, for once.
