Hi! I'm new to the area, and was hoping to find some cs people in somerville. this group seems ripe for it, but the group's been dead for almost a year? So reply if you're... not dead, basically!

Don't worry, they/we are not, in fact, dead. The people who used to live in CS palace in Somerville have moved to a different apartment in Jamaica Plain that is now called Surfhaven. I have since moved in with them so we are more connected with the JP area than Somerville at this point, but still quite active in the CS-verse.

hey thanks for taking the time to respond! Yeah I just moved here about a month ago. Apparently the CS community is Denver is amazing, and a good friend of mine from there recc'd it as a way to get to know people. There doesn't seem to be much of a CS thing tho in Boston from what I gather. thanks again

I agree that there isn't a core group of surfers in Boston who have formed a tight-knit community. Last I checked there were still weekly meet-ups at the Cambridge Brewing Company (CBC) in Kendall Square, and people tend to get together for activities and outings. I've met two good friends through couchsurfing as well as my fantastic roommates. We participate mostly in the local community in the hosting respect. If you're looking for things to do, we are often out at local music shows or house parties on the weekend. One of my roommates (Tim) is well ingrained in the local music scene so he always knows multiple things to do each night.

hah! understood. You could probably just shoot a quick email to CS to ask them to delete it? lol

Yeah if you guys are ever in the Somerville area doing anything, I'd love to know and maybe join you guys. I'm itching to do some outdoorsy things with a group at some point, but haven't been able to get it together not knowing the area and such.

I'll definitely check out the cbc meet up. I asked about it on some thread, and got messaged by some random person telling me it was boring and to not go. That kind of gave me a strange vibe, but after your endorsements, I'll have to give it another chance.

Thanks again,
Alisa
