I already posted this to other lists, but i guess it makes sense to post it here just in case.
a number of cs'ers say they're into learning or dancing salsa, but don't feel up to speed just yet. we're looking for places that let us just do our thing and work at our own pace, whatever that is.
some folks suggested i set up an event, so here it is:
this one will be sunday night, after the sf potluck, at the Allegro Ballroom in Emeryville, just across the bridge. they have lessons, then dancing, but they also have a couple studios off to the side where we can hang out and just work on stuff until people feel more comfortable.
other than that, if anyone is up for learning and/or practicing at a beginner or intermediate level, let me know.
I forgot to mention that if you go early enough, you can catch the free shuttle from Macarthur BART station to a stop right in front of where the ballroom is. It's on Christie Ave near Powell Ave. I'll probably get there early for those catching the first beginner lesson at 6:15 and can probably give some people a ride, but the last shuttle leaves BART at 6:40 for those heading in a little later. I'm sure someone can get you back to BART or home, or you could surf locally, later on.
and for bart schedules:
