where to live in Egypt?
Posted March 27th, 2013 - 7:29 am by from Beirut, Lebanon (Permalink)
Hey everyone
I'm creating a practical guide about where to live in Cairo, and in Egypt in general (North coast, Red Sea, ... ), to get to know the area from a local's perspective.
What are the places a family would be comfortable around? What suburbs offer cheap rent suitable for students? What do expatriates wish they had known when they first moved to the country? What are the fun things to do?

If you would like to pitch in with your ideas, please feel free to get in touch with me.

Thanks a lot !

well, in Cairo one of the world's most crowded cities, i believe the list will be :
New cairo & Rehab City : modern new neighborhood with nice hangout places, but it won't be any special and you may not call it Cairo, rents from 2k EGP to 4k EGP a month
Sheraton Heliopolis : near the air port, decent area 6K rent, 30 mins to downtown and nile side and an hour to pyramids and giza 20 mins to old Cairo (Hussaien- Khan el Khaliele - the citadel)
doki zamalik(my favorite) very siren very well known for expatriates although expensive rents are the most common (may exceed 10k a month)near downtown, and it's actualy an island in the Nile, nice hangout and night life.
if you are looking for something near the giza pyramids, i prefer to check booking.com for hotels, i don't recommend apartments there.
out side the capital, my favorite is aswan and red sea cities
