queer SF activities

Hello,
Is there any kind of regular queer SF couchsurfer activity? If not, is anyone interested in getting a regular weekly (or whenever) thing going? It could be just meeting for a hike, dinner, or even just drinks.

Yes, I would be interested in dinner, drinks, a hike, or a picnic in the park.

Is anyone up for a picnic this weekend in Dolores Park? We just got back from South America, and aren't into the idea of going to Pride with all the crowds, but thought a picnic would be fun and relaxing, and hopefully make some new friends.

I think a meeting/event/gathering would be a great thing, Mark. What about making a "Meetup.com" group specifically for this? I just think using Meetup might be an easier way to both publicize the 'thing' -- and that way you don't have to make it regular/weekly. Just a thought...

Hi Patrick,
That would be a good idea. Somehow meetup groups can be kind of flakey (at least in my experience), and I really like the culture of couchsurfing because it seems to attract a different mindset of people. But your'e right, it would be more accessible. Would you call it a "Queer Couchsurfers Meetup Group?"

I like the idea. are you interested in working on this together?

Hey Mark,

I realized after my post that CS has its own "meet up" tool too. Maybe not as flexible or snappy as Meetup.com, but maybe worth trying for a first time? Or your name for a Meetup group would be good, too.

Yes, I'd be happy/interested to help work on this -- though I'm probably not the ideal compadre on it because I'm so new to the game (I just have friends who couchsurf and they finally convinced me to join and list my place). I basically don't know anyone from the queer CS scene here -- but maybe that's a reason I'd go do stuff like this!

Hi Patrick,
I'm new to CS as well. I've only CS'd once in Italy, and hosted once here in SF. But I like the attitude of the people so far a lot. We tried to look for a couch in Lima last week but it was so last minute and didn't work out.
I propose we plan a time to meet and take it from there. see who shows up. maybe we could create the meetup group on the CS website.
Any weeknight this week is good for me. I'm gone Friday through Monday, then anytime after next Monday.
I'm near mission/precita. There's a new neighborhood gay friendly bar called Virgil's (right next door to El Rio), which could be a good place to meet. unless you have any ideas.

i love the idea of a mixed language queer meetup group (although it doesn't have to be queer or limited to one langauge). agree about the french meetup groups. i went to a couple and didn't care much for the vibe.
let's try to get something going when you get back.

Ok. I propose a picnic at Dolores Park on Sunday July 28. Meet around noon. Everybody can bring either a drink or a snack. Say from 12:00 to 3:00.

I created a CS "Event" with the details. See:

Please cross post to any other groups you think might be interested in coming.
