chestnuts for washing clothes

Hello sustainable group Berlin! :-)

I just read about an alternative and natural washing agent and would like to share it with you. I don't know about Berlin but in Vienna there are many chestnut trees so it will be easy to collect some. I read an article about chestnuts being used for clothes washing,

I knew indian "soap nuts" as a natural wasching agent but I also knew about the problems about it. That means a very long route of transport and because of this 'boom' in the western countries the increasing of the local prices for it because of the higher request.

Well and I read that the chestnuts which lie around right now (pretty autumn) contain saponines (Saponine) which can be used for clothes wasching! I find that exciting! :-) So far I always bought washing liquid from the Bio market but still more natural is better in any case!

here is the article I have read (but it's in German, you can though see pictures): http://experimentselbstversorgung.net/auf-zum-waschmittel-sammeln/

greetings from Vienna! :-)

all the best,
