Tour #1 - Variation of the Kahlenberg-route
Posted March 9th, 2012 - 6:40 pm by from Vienna, Austria (Permalink)
Dear sportive CouchSurfer-Freaks,

spring has announced its temperatures and time has come to bring out the mountainbike from the cellar and do some tours together.

Let's unite, strengthen our calves and set up plans for some nice tours in and around Vienna. You don't have to be professional or extremebiker, fun but some challenging tours are on the list!

Once we have gathered enough interested people together in this group we can start with the first tour - a small variation of the Kahlenbergtour up to the television antenna! So not something too big for the beginning :)

Meeting point will be Nußdorfer Platz - here is the location on the map:

Please follow the upcoming posts for information about exact meeting time & date.

Sportive moves,
Felix

Hi, I would like to ride moutainbike now that the ski season is barely over but I don't have one in Austria. How much would be a minimum price to buy a descent moutainbike and where would I find this ? Thanks in advance, Quentin

Hi Quentin,

You could check out willhaben.at for second hand bikes...

But what sort of biking do you want to do? Freeride/Downhill/XC/Cross-Country..

Because each discipline requires a different type of bike..unless you by an all mountain bike. 12-14kg

I have bought stuff from this German company and they are reliable, and they set up the bikes before shipping to you.

All the best,

Hey John,
Thanks for your answer and your links. As I have no car in Vienna, and I thus may stay most of the times around Vienna region, I guess I would need a cross-country bike or at least not something too heavy/downhill :)

Hi Quentin,

I could borrow you a basic mountainbike for the upcoming trip. It is designed for a taller person and has a hard saddle.

Let me know if you wanna try it with that one and pick it up in the second Viennese district.

Greets,
Felix
