Best Places & Best time of the year to visit Iceland
Posted January 25th, 2013 - 8:05 pm by from Athens, Greece (Permalink)
Hello guys!

I might travel to Iceland this year and I have a few questions about this beautiful country!...First of all,in your opinion which is the best time of the year to visit Iceland?I know that it depends on the activities that I wannna try there, but I might not be able to travel during the summer months,so it would be a good idea coming during winter or autumn??I would like to hear your opinions!
Moreover, which places would you recommend me to visit??I will might stay in Reykjavik,so it would be difficult to visit places within a long distance from there as public transportation is quite expensive. But,I would like to hear any recommendation about any place in Iceland!

Thank you in advance!!

I think a good question to start with would be: How long do you plan on staying there?

6 or 7 nights!...I know the advantages and the disadvantages of each season, but I would like to hear opinions from locals or generally people who have travelled there!

I'm also looking for suggestions on things to do and see during a week in Iceland ... will be there in June! Especially helpful would be tips on how to operate on a super low budget.

Hello Gregor!

I am in the same condition with you,so I could probably recommend you some things! However,an opinion from a local or someone who have travelled in Iceland would be better as I have never actually been there!...Regarding best places,I know that the most touristic sites are close to Reykjavik, like the Blue Lagoon,Geysir,Gullfoss,Thingvellir National Park etc.The last three are a part of Golden Circle.Google it and you will find specific information!...Of course, there are other very interesting places, too, but as I said an opinion from a local would be better!...Regarding,low budget tips, you can find hostels with less than 20$ per night.Check hostelworld.com.Actually,the cheapest hostel I have found is Reykjavik Backpackers...Moreover,regarding the food,I recommend you to cook if you can,as generally fast food and restaurants in Iceland are expensive! But,in my opinion you can spend very little money for food in every country!...

Have a nice journey!

Hello Anna Milena!

Thank you for your answer!I appreciate the time you spent writing it!...I will definitely visit the countryside as I agree that Iceland's countryside is something that nobody should miss! The only thing that I know is that I will do the Golden Circle and visit the Blue Lagoon, but I'm trying to find more places!I would like to visit the north also, but this is quite difficult as Iceland is very expensive.I checked the place you recommend(Westfjords) and I really liked it!...Again,thank you for your answer!

Best Regards,
Paul
