I need some advices for traveling/staying in Iceland

hey there,
I'll visit your land of elves and I have a couple of questions for the locals or those who had traveled in Iceland(:

I will volunteer in Iceland from 14th on June until the 12th of July at a lovely restaurant in Þingeyri.

The main thing I'm worried about - the journey from Reykjavik to Þingeyri. How long would it take me if I would be hitch-hiking?
I know that there's an opporturnity to take a local flight, but it's a bit expensive.

Also, I'm searching for a job or some volunteering offer. So,if you're looking for a room mate of if you know someone who needs a nanny or a housemaid, let me know.

cheers,
EKa.

I know a girl who was working in probably the exact same place in Þingeyri last summer, she hitchhiked over there in one day. She was lucky though, it might take 2 days.

There's often a bunch of tourist-industry related stuff going on here in summer. Some hostels offer you a work-for-rent arrangement, such as for nightshifts.
