I know a lot about the city and would be happy to recommend some places if that is helpful to you or to have lunch if you are passing through. I work on 40th and Madison Ave on Wed, Thur & Fri so feel free to email or call if you want to stop by or meet for coffee/lunch and I can recommend some places. 917-566-3840. Best wishes, Dan
if you are into music go to: ohmyrockness.com or for free stuff in the city go to: freenyc.com or myopenbar.com
hmm, there is so much to do here but here are some cool places/things I like to do:
-go to Sheeps Meadow in Central Park (hang out-throw a frisbee)
-Empire State Building (go to the top and see all of the city!)
-Staten Island Ferry (free and you see the Statue of Liberty)
-the MET (best museum in nyc)
-Union Square (farmers market, shops, restaurants, or chill on the grass)
-Bedford ave and North 7th in Williamsburg (brooklyn)
-Meatpacking District (more hip and upscale but great restaurants and bars) go to the Maritime Hotel for great drinks and dancing!
-Lower East Side (younger crowd, unique bars)
-Cafe Wa? in the west village on McDougal st. (night club-the best rock cover band)
-Bembe on South 6th and Berry in Willliamsburg (Brazilian bar! great drinks, dancing, live drumming)-the female bartender, jess, on fri and sat. nights is one of my dearest friends--she loves to meet couchsurfers!
Hopefully this helps--have fun!
