Tuesday 25 September, 6pm*
"Fukushima Hula Girls". 2011, (G), 102 min, documentary.
Director: Masaki Kobayashi. Narration: Yu Aoi.
This documentary follows the dancers of a beautiful resort hotel in Iwaki City, near the Fukushima nuclear power plants, as they struggle to recover from the earthquake and tsunami last year.
Wednesday 26 September, 6pm*
"Haru’s Journey". 2010, (PG - contains coarse language), 134 min, drama.
Director: Masahiro Kobayashi.
Cast: Tatsuya Nakadai, Eri Tokunaga, Hideji Otaki, Kin Sugai, Kaoru Kobayashi.
An old man, Tadao, and his granddaughter Haru embark on a trip around the Tohoku region to visit estranged family members and encourage family reconciliation.

Ginko runs a respectable store in Tokyo, and her daughter is engaged to a doctor. However, on her daughter’s wedding day her hard-drinking younger brother Tetsuro shows up causing trouble.

Set in the near future where androids are considered home appliances, this animated film explores the issues of respect and dignity for others.
