Sierra-Nevada Hiking
Posted July 3rd, 2012 - 11:21 am by from Sydney, Australia (Permalink)
Hi Everybody,

How are things going? I was wondering if I could ask some quick advice. I'm coming over to the Sierra-Nevada region for 3 weeks and hoping to get a decent whack of hiking in. I was wondering if anyone was interested in joining for a bit of hiking and trekking. I will probably have 2 weeks optionally to be in the mountains and am keen for anything from over-nighters to maybe a week long hiking.

From my perspective I'm fairly fit and able hiker and have a some experience climbing and comfortable in the high mountains. (there isn't much mountaineering in the area is there? too warm)

Beyond looking for a partner I was after some advice on what routes are good. Some ideas I had were:
* Evolution Basin from Upper Lemarck to Humphrys Basin
* Palisade Basin from Dusy Basin in a loop
* Bench Lake out and back
* Mt Whitney Portal Traverse(I don't have a permit for the normal route)

Anyway, I would supper appreciate any suggestions of hiking areas, best spots, advice how not to be eaten by bears, couches or interested hiking partners...

Thanks heaps,
