HOW TO BUY SAMBRADROME TICKETS FOR R$ 10 (yes, really)
Posted January 28th, 2013 - 5:16 pm by from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Permalink)
This Wednesday (Jan 30th), the samba school league (LIESA) will begin sales of the popular (cheap) seats for the Sambadrome parade. These tickets cost only R$ 10 (US$ 5) and will be sold by phone only. It's supposed to be an automated system with 700 phone lines available, but demand will be huge, so it probably won't be easy to get through.

These tickets are for Sectors 12 and 13, which are farther away than the other Sectors, and have only a partial view of the parade, but are still a lot a value for money.

What you'll need:

1) A phone (landline or mobile) with the Rio de Janeiro area code (DDD 21). No long distance calls, then.
2) A CPF (the Brazilian taxpayers' number)

Step-by-step instructions:

- on Jan 30th, starting at 9:00 AM, call 3445-0012 (for Sector 12) or 3445-0013 (for Sector 13). The tickets will probably be sold out before 10:00 AM, so don't bother calling much later than that.
- you'll then have to dial a CPF number, then select which day you'll be attending (Feb 10 or 11), and the amount of tickets you want to buy (maximum: 4 tickets)
- the computer will then assign you a code number
- on Feb 2nd (Saturday), between 9 AM and 3 PM, the owner of the CPF will have to go to stand in line at the Sambadrome (behind Sector 11, close to Rua Frei Caneca) to present the code number, make the payment (cash only) and get the tickets.
