Hi, im trying to plan a trip as a solo traveler and I'm landing in San Fran 01/25 and fly out 03/25. my plan so far is SEE AND EXPERIENCE CALIFORNIA
I've looked up many options and need advice, I like the look of trek America but cant afford the price, have looked into volunteering options but don't know if I'll get a response fast enough to organise trip around... and don't know if i can fully rely on couch surfing the entire trip.
i'm really keen to keep surfing after a surf camp in Morocco and would love to know if there are any Adult surf camps that is "all inclusive" surfing wise (accommodation, surf lessons/transport, and gear hire)
i'm also a keen hiker and horse rider, i worked in a summer camp teaching kids how to ride horses and then worked on a challenge course doing hi ropes exercises and team building...
I really want to experience a genuine local experience and if at all possible a longer length stay where i can "help" or volunteer passing on my skills in exchange for a place to stay etc
Any Advice or volunteering programs available please let me know
Hi Morganne, unfortunately I won't be able to help you as I am also looking about the best way to visit south California ! I also checked trekAmerica , but it seems to be very expensive and I m affraid to be disappointed for so much money ! I checked Lassen tour, it s cheaper but seems to be like "seeing the more in a very short time" and i m affraid of this !
So i m very interested in your trip, and if you want to help me, you can write to me I would be very glad to get from your experience !!!
Are you planning to rent a car ?
Hey Morganne! I don't have any advice for you camp wise... I just wanted to let you know that i'll be in San Diego/SoCal from March 13th to the 24th. I really want to go into the desert and go adventuring! Let me know what you end up doing.
Hey, I'll be in south cali, starting around Palm Springs from March 3 until a flight on the 10 March from San Diego, willing to rent a car, visit the desert ect... let me know if someone's available and keen to team up for some of these dates! thanks !
Hey when will you be in San Diego???
Something you must must must experience is driving down the Californian coast via the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1). It is just gorgeous during March.
There are many organic farms in California which you can volunteer at. A quick search online should render some resources.
Surfing isn't too great in San Francisco. For that you'll wanna come to southern California. (LA, San Diego areas).
If you have any other questions about California let me know!
