Barcelona Beaches
Posted August 27th, 2008 - 1:22 pm by from Bratislava, Slovakia (Permalink)
Hola everyone! I have read your discussions and recommendations concerning Barcelona Beaches. For example Alessandra recommends San pol de Mar, Garraf and Sitges beaches. I found on internet, that there are also beaches inside Barcelona - Nova Icaria, Nova Mar Bella, Llevant. They are not good? What do you think about them? I am going to Barcelona with my friends and we are looking for good beach - with clean water, nice surroundings. Thank you for your advice. Michaela

Hola Michaela! Of course, you can go to Marbella, Bogatell or Nova Icaria: these beaches are not so bad, not exactly the best for a beach lover (I was born in a seaside environement and I've visited so many enchained beaches so that I have high standards of quality!), but if you'll go there in september it's much more better. There are a lot of people at Marbella (a big comunity of gay) a nice 'chiringuito' (the so called bars near the beach) where, if I remember correctly, on sunday you can have an aperitive.
In my opinion, sometimes, it's much more easy take the train renfe and go out Barcelona. For instance, if you go to marbella [..] by metro you have to walk for a while for reaching the beach, if you go by train renfe in everyone of the small town out of Barcelona, in ten minutes you'll find : 1. a better beach and cleaner water 2. the beach in front of you when you get off the train. Some beautiful places near Barcelona are Montgat Nord, Ocata, Premià, el Masnou (if you'll go to montgat nord you can use the metro ticket itself).
You have to consider that Barcelona, of course, is a seaside city, but the sea is not her main attraction. I can't remember who, but somebody told me that Barcelona inhabitants live with the sea behind their shoulders not watching the skyline..
Hope to have given you some suggestions..ale
