Trying to get to Lesotho from Kimberly, SA
Posted March 16th, 2012 - 6:39 pm by from Winnipeg, Canada (Permalink)
Hello! We are trying to find a way to Maseru from the Kimberly train station on Mar 21. We've talked to the major bus companies, and none of them seem to provide services past Bloemfontein. Any ideas/advice on how to find a ride to Maseru?

Do tell! :) Thanks folks.

Hey Libby, there is no connection by major bus companies, but it is easily accesible by minibus taxis as locals do. There is plenty of comutors between Bloem and Maseru and Kimberly - Bloem. Once You get to the minibus taxis station ask for Maseru - they show You the place from usually minibuses leave and when one gets full You go too :)

Good luck!
And don t worry it is safe option of transport. I used them many times and it was cheep and funny rides.
Another option is hitchhike - works quite good in SA and Lesotho, just a good experiences!

Thanks so much Jan, that was just the response I was hoping for. I guess it would be normal for the minibusses to leave in the middle of the night when the train comes in... we were just worried about being stranded.

Thanks again, if you're still in Lesotho let me know and maybe we can meet up for a drink or something!

Hi Libby,

...if you arrive to Kimberley very late at night chances are quite big there will not be a night minibus to Blom. ...and you certainly will not catch a minibus from Bloemfontain to Maseru before 7 am. So you may consider to stay overnight in Kimberley and travel by day.

oh, that's right. Sorry I didn't know that You going to arrive to Kimberley by night..just try to contact some of the CSers or hostels in the city to pick You up in the station and then in the morning ask for the minibuses stand. That's gonna by much more easier!

Enjoy Your trip:)
And sorry I m not in Lesotho. I've been there just for a trip.

:)Hey Lenka, how are You doing? Pls leave me a message.
