Sziget CouchSurfing Camp Proposal
Posted May 3rd, 2013 - 1:38 pm by from Tirns, Netherlands (Permalink)
So let's make the plans actual!
I wanna propose the following:

*** Location:
http://goo.gl/maps/AFUZR then click: Satelite view

That marked area is not gonna be the whole camp, but i'm sayingsomewhere in that area.

This is a patch of trees where it's nice and cool throughout the whole day. Also close to the facilities.

If you're joining the camp, please leave a message what day you're planning on coming. I am not sure when I am, but maybe the guys that get there first can mark a spot somewhere at this location and maybe reserve some space in some way.

Thoughts, Ideas?? post here!

Is that near where we were last year?

Being right next to the bag drop and showers/toilets was really good.

I also really liked the spot from last year.

@Micheal: Yeah its practically right next to it. You remember that closest toiletblock last year? It is that bushy/shady area behind it.

Is this the alternative camping area, and if so does it cost extra? I haven't bought tix yet so how do I make sure I'm able to set up camp with you guys? :)

Posted June 23rd, 2013 - 7:23 am by from Istanbul, Turkey (Permalink)
Hi Nathalie, you don't need to buy alternative or vip tickets to camp with people here.

This sounds incredible! I'm in guys. Is it possible to rent camping gear in Budapest?

Otherwise I'll be begging someone to rent a spot in their tent.

You can buy one in a hypermarket near Sziget for 10-15euros.

That is most likely what I will be doing and can organise splitting a 2-man one closer to the time

Posted June 23rd, 2013 - 7:13 pm by from Borlange, Sweden (Permalink)
Are you sure? In another thread, people claimed that this particular area is alternative camping

Posted June 24th, 2013 - 12:54 am by from Tirns, Netherlands (Permalink)
Yes. If there is going to be a Couchsurfingcamp, it is going to be on the regular camping area, where everyone with a normal ticket can get to :)

Seems legit. It'd be nice to explore Budapest a few days before the festival, when do they open up the camping areas? When are you guys planning to show up and set up camp?

Yeah, same spot as last year! :)

Posted July 1st, 2013 - 6:30 pm by from Istanbul, Turkey (Permalink)
Most probably same spot as last year will work for everyone :)

Posted July 1st, 2013 - 8:22 pm by from Tirns, Netherlands (Permalink)
Okay, the place that I mean is this one:

It is really close to that place of last year (next to that 3-way intersection, and the sinks and restrooms, and the bagage claim), and it is soo comfortably cool that you don't get woken up by the heat.
Ofcourse I respect the majority vote, it is just that if we can pick any place, why not pick a spot that is nice and cool throughout the day, right?

Ill be in on the 6th I'd say. Do the camping spots fill up pretty quickly?

I Agree with Popkes proposal. Last year's location was great but there was no shadow... (and there was a hole in the ground.) Some trees would be nice. :)

hey guys!

I would like to join the CS camp! I will be together with my best friend (https://www.couchsurfing.org/people/dudapadilha/) and I will arrive at Budapest station at 16:50 on Monday 8th and I will go straight to the island. I can try to help getting the spot at that time, just let me know how. I am quite new on CS and this might be my first "CS event".

Cheers!

Renato

Hey all! Can I join also? I have no idea how this works (nor have I even ever couch-surfed or offered a couch to anyone), but I would love to pitch my tent with all of you! Otherwise, I'm all alone for the whole week. Pretty please? :D How does it work? Can I do anything to help?

Posted July 19th, 2013 - 9:38 pm by from Istanbul, Turkey (Permalink)
hey, general rule of CS camping at sziget is: knowing where the beer is and to be around :)

even people who are not from CS and around the CS camp became CS members after the camp :) so just follow the posts, learn where the camp will be and find it... thats all...

Hello all! im looking to go for Sziget and I'd be alone actually.. so of course I turn to CSers. Would love to camp together and party together.

Question (to be absolutely sure) - Do I just show up with my sleeping bag and tent at the spot and all's good?? =))

Posted July 24th, 2013 - 8:14 pm by from Istanbul, Turkey (Permalink)
i won't be there so that will be all :) if i were there, its always good to bribe me with beer :P

Posted July 24th, 2013 - 8:40 pm by from Northampton, England (Permalink)
Hi, you need a camping ticket of course to take tent in. Yes just arrive with tent etc and there's plenty of places to camp. I've been several times before so if you have any questions just ask. Sziget is awesome. You'll love it! :)

Hi,
I am going to the festival only 2 days (in a row). Do you know how and where I can buy a camping pass for one night ? Thanks a lot ! Morgane

Posted July 25th, 2013 - 3:48 pm by from Northampton, England (Permalink)
Hi Morgane,
I don't think you can buy a one day camping pass unfortunately. And they will not allow you to bring a tent in without a camping ticket. If you are still stuck you can use my tent and I will share with my friend. It is only a small 2 man tent so depends how many there is of you.
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Thanks a lot for your answer. I was wondering as their website FAQ is quite vague on the topic : they say "You can camp on the site and use the camping related facilities – such as showers - if you have a Weekly Pass (with camping), or you already have a day ticket for the given day and the next day."

And for the tent, that's very nice of you: tentsurfing looks a great idea ! I am travelling alone and I am quite small so that should fit in a tent and it would even be possible to have one more guest if someone is in the same need !

Thank you so much
Morgane

very nice idea with a cs flag :) me and may friend are coming for the first time and would love not to be only the two of us. will there be enough space if we arrive tuesday? I'm not sure which time, cause we come by hitchhiking, might be during the night, does anybody know if we can get in or is it closed at some time?
