Can host up to 2 at intentional community in Takoma Park
Posted February 1st, 2013 - 2:58 am by from Takoma Park, United States (Permalink)
Hey all,

I live in an intentional community of 18 people. We're social change activists of a variety of flavors. We have couch/floor space for 2 people.

Because this is an intentional community and this is our home, we ask that any visitors agree to a few things including not bringing any synthetic chemicals or things with fragrances that can affect those with chemical sensitivities, and not bringing any alcohol or illegal drugs. Please keep in mind that this is a family-friendly community so there are kids that can make loud noises at any point during the day or night. And know that a lot of the free food that will be available to you will be from the dumpster.

Oh, our house is a 15 minute walk from the Takoma Park metro station.

Hi Karen, I'll be coming into DC from Vermont for the climate rally, and am looking for a place to lay my head for Sat night. Staying at an international community sounds great, as does the food coming from dumpsters. And having kids around sounds great as well. I practice acupuncture and herbal medicine, so I won't be bringing any synthetic fragrances, alcohol or other substances. However, I could bring you some VT maple syrup if you'd like.

As I'll be taking the bus from VT, I have a few questions.
1. How far are you from downtown DC? I assume that their would be a bus or train I could take.
2. Also, I'm allergic to cats and somewhat allergic to dogs. Are there any there?
2. Is anyone going to the rally on Sunday that I cold tag along with?

Thanks for the offer. Please let me know if you need more info about me.

Hi Karen,

I will be coming from Colorado to the Climate Change rally in DC, and am looking for a place to stay for two nights (Saturday Feb 16 and Sunday Feb 17), leaving early morning on Monday. I'm familiar with Takoma Park and can find my way there via the metro. In addition, I can take Brendan to rally on Sunday if he stays at Maitri House as well.

I can bring a bed roll and won't have synthetic chemicals, alcohol, or drugs.

Brad

Looks like a place just opened up at my place if you're still looking. Great location. You must like cats, as I have 3.

Hi Karen,

I have a growing interest in climate change and intentional community. I used to live in DC and am traveling back to see my son and do some research. Would like to connect, learn and share.

Do you have space for Thursday, the 7th and what is the max days for couch surfers/guests?

Thanks so much!

Earth love,

This sounds fantastic. I live in cohousing in Santa Fe and am thinking of coming for the rally. I am chemically sensitive myself, so your space could work for me. I am a 52 year old male, no smoking, no drinking or drugs, responsible, quiet, political lefty.
Let me know what you think...

Oh yeah, I would need the couch for sat and sunday nites bracketing the rally.
Please let me know ASAP if still available or if there is anything else you want to know about me.
