Travelling there for a weddingparty and need Help
Posted January 23rd, 2009 - 4:39 pm by from Nuremberg, Germany (Permalink)
Hi together,

me and my girlfriend will travel to Bloemfountain and visit my girlfriends mother. She will have marriage arround the 5th of march.

First me and my band wanted to fly down together, to play for them, but at the end of the day nobody got holidays. Now my present will be an I-Pod with music for the evening.

Unfortunately they don't have good speakers nor a power amp.

Is it possible to rent such things arround Wepener or Bloemfountain???

Id be happy for every information.

Last but not least id be very happy to make some Tours through Free State and Lesotho. I might have a Jeep, so everything is possible.

Hey Andi.. I've been meaning to reply to ur post for quite a time now, regarding the sound. I could also only find info online & I was waiting to hear from a friend who works for the SABC,, (yep, i'm still waiting). So I'm glad you found something.

I don't know if you enjoy walking/hiking, but we can highly recommend MeiringsKloof(http://www.meiringskloof.co.za) & GoldenGate(http://www.sanparks.org/parks/golden_gate).

Meirings is situated in Fouriesburg, about 250km from Bloem, there are some beautiful trails there with alot of overhanging caves. I would recommend staying at least one night, either camping or renting a cottage.

You can stop over in Clarens (Unfortunately over the past few years Clarens has become more and MORE touristy, but it s still a beautiful little town), +-30km from Fouriesburg & on your way to Golden Gate. Have a drink in the Jack Daniels Bar at Barrel & Beef, maybe stop over at Street Café for some great wood fire pizza after browsing trough some art galleries and shops. If you are lucky, you might catch some good music (Denzl & Henzie) playing at StreetCafe.

If you are planning to go to Lesotho, you will pass two borderposts on that road as well. 1 Just before Ladybrand and another at Ficksburg (I think there is another close Fouriesburg).

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. (I'll rather stop writing now, in fear of discovering the limit of this messagebox ;)

Hallo there,

one year is gone and we´re exploring ZA and Lesotho again.

Last time we drove through Golden Gate Park on the way to Durban.

This year will be the time to make a 3 days hike in the Maluti Mountains...

And there comes the next question...

What is your favourite bar/pub in Bloem (i´ll be there sometimes - organizing all the parts for a bbq-smoker for Wepener)?

So please tell me your experiences about hanging around in BLOEM....

There would be a chance for a meet - (drink) - and greet at the 19th of Feb. I´ll be in Loch Logan Waterfront at Kloppers from round about half past 1....

hey there, i've grown up in bloem and swiftly left... coz that's what peeps do in this place. but i've come back this week to visit my fam and the crumbs of friends left over... and i have good news. the alternative undercurrent is virulent and strong!
There's 2 very cool places to check out, both are in Kelner road. the one is the original Mystic Boer, this place have been around for i guess two decades, it's gone through some purging changes, but hot damn, it's a fun place to party and dance and drink a tequila and have really cool conversations with the folk.
other place that I discovered last night, thanks to my friends, is Seven on Kelner, this is a bit more chilled restaurant, bar vibe, but the decor, like floating flying gold fishies are real special, so definitely check those places out!
