Dear friends from Tibet, China or those love Chinese culture.
My friend is in need of information about TIBET YAK for her final essay.
Except wikipedia, she needs more details about the legend or the myth of Tibet yak. What's relationship between them and Tibetan culture, religion, people and more...

If you have any resource in English or Chinese, please help us out. I don't know any Chinese but my friend does.
So if you have information in Chinese or English, please send them to me. you can email to mua_gat@yahoo.com
We need it ASAP.

Thank you for your time. I also wish to visit Tibet some day.

Cheers.
Grace

I am Tibetan, from Tibet--

Once again a lot people Get confused with Yak,Dri, Zomo, Duilui

Clarification: Yak is a male --But most of people from west really don't understand the difference between Yak and Dri. Dri is a female, of course
you can't either call female yak.-.or yak cheese etc. we call
Dri 's cheese. for example: we don't call a cow -a bull , at the
at the same time we don't call bull's cheese or bull's milk..it's cow milk . rihgt?
Once more: yak is a male , Dri is a female.

Difference between Zomo and ZO.
Zomo is female and ZO is male.

Note: important: If Yak and Dri are mixed..of course calf will be either yak or Dri.

But if Yak and cow are mixed, new breed will be either Zo or Zomo.
same is the case of , Bull and Dri, if the bull and Dri are mixed, the new breed will either be Zo or Zomo.

If Zomo is mixed with either Bull or yak, new breed is called Duilui, usually 97% don't survive ,Because Duilui is extremely disobedient animal, very often it doesn't go with with rest of the yak or dri group, it prefer to go alone , either lost or get killed by wolf ...most of the die at the very young age...like few months...difficult to raise.

NOte: Duilui is general name of both female and male , as i told you 97%of them usually die, of course those Duilui which are survived...let's say female duilui...

Note: If female Duilui is mixed with yak or bull , their new breed is called Sing,95% of its physical feature is like yak or Dri..

And if female Sing is either mixed with Bull or yak , their new breed will be either pure Yak or Dri...

This is how the new breed comes ..
Please note that : Zo and male duilui can't produce new breed.....it likes mule --i mean male mule..
i hope you get my points

Thank you Tsering! I apreciate your information alot. That's how we tell the difference of those species. How about the origin of yak? What stories do you have about yak that relate to your religion, your culture?
If you have any story or resource in Chinese, it's fine.
Thank for your help again.
