Hi Jo,

Looks like I might be a bit late, but in case you see this here goes. I got back from a week in Rodrigues a couple of weeks ago and despite the rain had a great time.

Renting a scooter is an option, but keep in mind Rodrigues is very hilly and some of the roads are really rough. Personally I wouldn't be comfortable on a scooter and so we rented a 4x4 (the standard car rental there).

The Francois Leguat turtle sanctuary is definitely worth a visit, and also has a cave as part of the tour. There is also a larger cave, Caverne Patate, not too far away from it but I didn't have time to check it out.

Personally my favorite part of the coast was the chunk from Point Cotton to St Francois, and then you can keep walking along to Trou D'Argent and Anse Bouteille.

Otherwise just check out the island, go on some hikes, eat some good seafood and relax! Theres some good fish and the local Rodriguese pork sausage made with rum. For hiking trails there is a basic map called Carte Verte you can get at this little gazebo in the center or Port Mathurin.

Cheers,
Damien
