moving to vancouver from seattle and need a room
Posted December 27th, 2012 - 5:19 am by from Seattle, United States (Permalink)
Hello,

My name tim kelly and i am looking for an available room, preferabley long term but short term is okay too. I currently live in Seattle but just got a job in Vancouver starting the middle of January and will be moving up before that. The job I just accepted is with the UBC Psychiatry department on a research study investigating mental illness and substance abuse.

I currently live in a cooperative with 15 other individuals, so I have experience moving in with strangers. From this experience, I am also used to open and honest communication, respecting others' boundaries, keeping the communal areas clean, sharing chores, and cooking for the whole house.

I am 25 years old, gay, and generally pretty active. I love riding my bike around town and will use that as my primary mode of transportation as I do not have a car. I am an avid traveler, having traveled to 30+ countries thus far. I am also very into politics and look forward to learning about the Canadian political system. In my down time i listen to music, read, cook vegan food, run/exercise/yoga, go out to bars with friends etc. During the summer I love camping, going to festivals, and play in the gay softball league. I like to drink wine or have a beer or two occasionally at home as well as go out to bars or music venues on weekends. I also like to use marijuana on an occasional basis in my room.

I am looking for a roommate that I can share my presence, interests, and space with. While I would like to become good friends with my roommate and hang out outside of the house, that isn't necessary. I do, at the least, want a roommate I am comfortable with and like to spend time with so that we don't just spend all of our time cooped up in our respective rooms. As mentioned above, I have become adept at picking up on others' boundaries and letting this guide my interaction with them.

If you feel like we may be a good match, perhaps we can set up a time to skype.

Thanks for your time!

Tim

Hey Tim, I just moved to Vancouver as well (from Toronto) I would love to share a two bedroom place with you! I'm a 20 year old female who doesn't want to move in with messy people so you sound perfect (: What area of the city and price range are you thinking? We can skype or meet in person once you get here I'd be down to just hang out too as I don't know anyone here yet if you chose to live with someone else.

Welcome to Canada,
Eliza

Hi Tim,

I have a room available for the month of February. I am a graduate student at UBC and for march I am planing on moving on campus in march, but if you want to keep the apartment and find another roommate, you could do that.

The apartment is furnished, at Oak and 59th ave, 600$ per month. It is around 45min by bus to UBC, 15 min walking to the skytrain, 30 min by bus to downtown.

If you need, for January you could sleep on the couch and pay a far cheaper rent (we almost never use that room, but I need to pass through it to get to my bedroom).

Cheers,
Aline
