$625/month or $160/week, big clean room in Manhattan - Laid back, international traveler/student wanted
Posted December 11th, 2012 - 5:01 am by from Athens, United States (Permalink)
I'm looking for short-term roommates. The room in question is big and clean, in a nice apartment. Just to clarify, you will have your own room.

About the apartment:

- The apartment is located in a clean, safe neighborhood in the north west of Manhattan (Inwood) at a 5-minute walk from the express subway line A as well as the 1 train and a variety of buses, including the M98 express bus.

- A 10-min train ride to City College and Columbia University.

- 25 min ride to 42nd st.

- This is a very green, nice looking area. There are many parks nearby.

- Ethnically diverse neighbourhood.

- There are numerous big 99 cent stores where you can get practically anything you need for your room.

- There is a fresh fruit/vegetable and baked goods deli right across the street, as well as a supermarket.

- Laundromat 2 block away.

- Apartment is on the first floor.

- Cool, laid back, considerate roommate.

Pictures will be sent upon request.

About you:

I am looking for non-smokers (smoking is not allowed in the building) and international students/travelers.

I am looking for someone who is laid back, kind, polite and respectful.

I am looking for someone who believes in individualism and freedom of expression, live and let live.

Eccentrics/geeks/musicians/writers/queers/artists/scientists/activists welcome. Which doesn’t mean you necessarily have to be one of the above, but if you have a problem with any one of them, you should not reply to this ad.

I am looking for someone who cleans after themselves.

A major plus if you like cats. I don’t have one but I’m considering getting one if I can find a cat-loving roommate.

To save us both time, you should read my profile before you reply and feel free to ask any question.

Cheers,

Charley.

Hey Charlie,

I'm looking for a place to stay in NYC February through March. I'm a writer from Berlin (currently doing an M.A. in literary writing at a very prestigious institute, but I also already have another M.A. in philosophy and musicology). At the same time, I'm doing a PhD in philosophy (at a low speed though, as days only have 24 hours ...), and I live off of translating. I've spent 2 months in New York in 2011 as well and just feel like coming back because I think the city will do my writing good.

I would love to hear from you, of course I'm available for talks on Skype any time.

All the best
Lilian

Hi Charley,

Your proposition sounds good ...
We, Julien and I are french people.
Officially french teacher in middle school.

Informally musician ( Julien has a band called Queers of Montesquieu, if you want to listen: http://www.myspace.com/queers-of-montesquieu or see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJWmFGU41sE ) and directing, play, dramaturgy in a theater company for me ...

Obviously travelers when we can.

AND ... we decided to spend a month in NYC, this summer (end of July to the end of august).

You can understand why we like your offer ...

What do you say ? Will you be ok to great us as summer roommate ?

In all cases, I wish you a best 2013 year, full with good surprises, stunning adventures and beautiful meeting.
Thank you,

Hélène.
