Hello! I know it's a little early but I'm looking to move into a new apartment in May or June. I'm hoping to find one or two roommates and am putting a feeler out now because I'd really like the opportunity to meet the right people to create a nice living environment and start the search sometime in April/May.
I'd love to live in the Gowanus, Prospect/Crown Heights or South Slope but as I'd like to spend less on rent I am likely going to end up looking in BedStuy (by Stuyvesant Heights) and deep Crown Heights by the express trains. I am open to looking at apartments up to $1,000 per person but would prefer to spend $700-800. I'm actually in real estate and have a colleague with a rent stabilized 3BR in BedStuy for $2000 but it's for March move-in and there would be a fee (but lower than usual because I am an agent). So that's kind of the jist in terms of location and budget. We'll need to show a combined income of 40 times the monthly rent and good credit, plus provide at least first and security at lease signing.
As a real estate agent, I run around to appointments a lot but also work from home a lot so I need my roommates to be okay with that. Ideally they would have regular day jobs so I wouldn't be bothering them when I'm on business calls at home. I'm not a morning person so am not typically an early riser. I am very sensitive to smoke and slightly allergic to cats so those are going to be dealbreakers for me. Other than that, I just want roommates who will be respectful, who aren't OCD about cleanliness but not slobs either, and is okay with having friends over from time to time and the occasional house party but won't bring the party home every week.
I'd like to host CSers about once a month and want out of towner friends to be welcome to visit, so long as it's not an extended amount of time. I can't imagine this would be a problem with CSers but I'd also like to be able to sublet from time to time if one is going to be out of town for a period, provided it's okay with the landlord. For example, I'd like to take a 5-6 week trip in August/September and it'd be really helpful to be able to sublet my room.
Anyway, that's quite a bit so take a look at my profile, message me any Q's and decide if you'd be interested in potentially finding an apartment together. I'd like to meet up to see if we mesh -- coffee, drink, or CS event would be cool.
I am from Brisbane Australia and would be interested in renting a room for short term stay in late July/Aug for at week/8 days?
Ive read you are a real estate agent and may know of places that do rent out on a weekly basis. I hope you can help me. I would prefer my own apt even just studio is fine.
What is a fair rent for a week on a studio?
Thanks for your help!
I'm arriving in NYC around end of June/July as I have an internship with a non-profit organisation from August - November so I'm looking for accommodation during this time. The locations you're looking at and price range is right on par with my preferences. Unfortunately I wont be able to meet up with you prior to June but I'm definitely interested in the prospect of renting together so I'd be happy to Skype, email etc to help organise. Let me know if you think it would work in terms of dates or if you're looking for a longer term roommate!
I'm definitely interested in apartment hunting with CSers. I'm currently in Brooklyn staying with a friend and just arrived - so finding something in April would be ideal, although I could sublet something until I find a good group of folks. If anyone's interested, would love to meet up with Esther or anyone else in the thread who's interested.
I am also staying in Brooklyn, subletting for March, and looking a place. I'm pretty flexible and would be really interested in living with a group of passionate and interesting people. Keep me in mind - it would be great to grab a coffee sometime and chat just to get to know each other no matter how it turns out with rooming. Let me know.
