Two rooms available for a few weeks starting immediately!
What is it?
I live in a 3 bedroom apartment in Clinton Hill Brooklyn and I'm in between roommates. I have roommates coming from Spain on August 2nd as well as a roommate coming from France on August 17th. So I have one room that is available until August 1 and another that is available until August 16. (Sidenote: i will be in California to visit my brother from Aug 2 - Aug 10)
Both rooms have double beds, closets, windows, etc. & the apartment itself is nicely furnished. I have a futon in the common space and there's a big table in as well because I like having good conversation over good food with good friends (That said, I'm a horrible cook and have been extremely busy this summer and not home much, such is life).
Where is it?
I'm a huge advocate for Brooklyn and especially for my neighborhood in particular. Clinton Hill is best known for its brownstones and being the home to Pratt Institute (a private arts/architecture school). There is so much to do and see here. GOOD coffee just a one minute walk from the apartment, a few cozy bars with friendly staff. Lots of restaurants with amazing food at competitive prices. But of course there's also train access! The G train is a 5 minute walk (I'm right between the Classon Ave. Stop and the Bedford Nostrand Stop). This means, that you are an 8 minute train ride from Alligator Lounge in Williamsburg... haven't heard of it, check it out. To be more specific, we're just a few stops away from Metropolitan Ave Station and all its glory/hipster life. Also in the neighborhood is the C train at Franklin Avenue - it's an 8 minute walk, but where the G train lacks a stop in Manhattan, the C train can get you to Fulton Station in downtown in just 16 minutes. Fab!
I have been the only permanent resident in the apartment for the entire month... I hosted my two Aussie friends whoh just rode their bicycles across America, I've had friends from high school come and visit, and friends of friends, and even friends of friends of friends who needed a place for a night or two and it's been swell. However, an anonymous neighbor has noticed the extra traffic and apparently to some people... backpackers = illegal hostels = unsafe = a call to 311 and report to the dreaded Department of Buildings of such "an illegal hostel". This has led to a call from my landlord asking that I stop hosting (sad face). I wish my fellow Americans would become more appropriately acquainted with what a hostel is...
So I'm now looking to fill the place with people who are hoping to stay for a few weeks so as to limit this "suspicious" backpacker traffic. Not looking to make big bucks, the rates I'm offering are less than the room's portion of the rent; what I absolutely NEED is to find RELIABLE & TRUSTWORTHY temporary roommates who will be discreet with their backpacks, (Haha! Writing this seems so absurd!). I wish I knew who reported my so called illegal hostel because I would gladly invite them into my home and show them the complete absence of bunk-beds, but instead, the pictures of my nephews hung on the fridge, my 3 rooms each with 1 bed... and my continued efforts to make this apartment more and more my home. However, I don't know who made this complaint *Le Sigh* so I'm extending this offer to the Couch Surfing network... because every person I've interacted with on this site has become a friend... & I'm hoping to live with a few trustworthy friends for the next few weeks until my more permanent roommates arrive from Europe in August.
There will be a sublet agreement, but it will be simple. My landlord and lease allow for subleasing, so this is not an issue.
1 room is available from NOW - AUGUST 1 - $450 for the whole time
1 room is available from NOW - AUGUST 16 - $900 for the whole time
I'm open to discussing other dates, but what I'm really looking for is someone who wants to stay at least a couple weeks.
Please PM me for more information, for pictures of the rooms, to arrange a time to meet, etc. or pass this on to someone you know who is looking for a place. I grew up in a big family and it's been so weird the past couple days to have the apartment so empty... I don't like living by myself!
Looking forward so much to meeting some awesome people over the next month!
