CS LongBeach/Southbay - Introduce yourself!
There's a lot of discussion going on about possible reorganization of La County's group/messaging system to encourage communication among locals in their nearby communities. While that will be great if/when it happens, I thought we could be proactive down here in the SouthBay/Long Beach area.
So, whether you're in Long Beach, San Pedro, Bellflower...wherever - if you're interested in a more active couchsurfing community, why not introduce yourself in this thread. Maybe you can't make it to the events we host...maybe you're new in town...maybe you just haven't had the opportunity to host/surf, maybe you'd just like to get more acquainted with the community, or maybe you just want to participate to add some new energy into the community down here.
Tell us who you are, how long you've been here, and one secret place / fun thing you like to do in the area. If you have more to share, do it!
I'm Mike the city ambassador for Long Beach. As a CS Ambassador, I answer questions about couchsurfing, promote the organization, and help the community to be as unified and active as possible. I'm not 'in charge' nor do I have any authority. I'm just a resource for information and an organizer. I've been in Long Beach for almost 3 years, and one of my favorite things to do is take surfers on a bike ride to the light house in rainbow harbor where we enjoy a drink or two before heading out to explore the rest of the city. It's a cheap, fun way to show surfers around town.
(I'd like to see this thread have input from AT LEAST 20 different CS'ers in the community since we have over 200 active members, if not lots more! So c'mon - get typing!)

Cultural events in and around LB - Post here!
After input from Assaf and others, it's been recommended I start a single thread for the many cultural events I post about in the SoCal area. I apologize if my posts have flooded the group and hope this will work better. I'm always open to feedback on how to make the best (ie. least annoying) use of these boards, so let me know what you think. :)
If you know of any cultural events in the area, please post it here! We're extremely lucky with the incredible cultural diversity here -- the world literally comes to LA and LB is a shining example of that.
Often a lot of culture, music and arts don't receive the exposure they deserve and it's hard to hear about them. So hopefully this thread will help get the word out on all the great happenings in and around LB. If you're on FB and like to hear about world cultural events, feel free to join my group:
