hello "home", I am coming to visit.
hello world. As the world turns, so does life go in cycles.
I am going home. yes, who has ever heard me say that?
it was a long time ago when i last did as a traveller, some time in mid-late 1981, as an already seasoned traveler overland from New Zealand, I left Africa after two years of having walked half of Africa and living at Tom Mboya Memorial Health centre, Rusinga Island, Lake Victoria , then 6 days later I was in the middle of New York city in total culture shock, nearly falling out of the window starring at stretch limousines, "coming too" from all the car tooting as i realised i was standing on one leg in the middle of the road starring up those never ending sky scrappers, and jumping out of my skin while feeling for the matches on the table to light the lantern when light suddenly appears from nowhere...
this is the second time i have been around the world. all with special new friends and families around the world. Love you.
From Wudang Shan mountains of China,
to hitting blue ice at 7000 feet on Mt Fuji,
to being part of the cycle racing support team to get the first New Zealander Joshue Kench to ever finish RAAM, the nonstop cycle race across America,
to the european hitch hiking gathering in Bulgaria Aug 2011,
two days stuck hitching out of Bugaria to go north to see friends who had couchsurfed with me in New Zealand, to end up turning left instead of right and co driving a car to Yerevan, Armenia, then on to gorgeous Georgia, "the geographical apex of sychronicity", Quote Evi Collins (the best travel stories I have ever heard). To then end up returning to my Thai Family here in Bangkok.
now it has come time to reciprocate. to take my Thai host "to experience some of that New Zealand hospitality as Thailand has shown me over the past year.
and yes, i am still en route back to Kenya to "give something back to Africa that Africa gave me a long time ago."
fairwell Bangkok, Thailand. khawp khun ma khrap.
