Busking in Italy
Posted August 14th, 2012 - 6:47 pm by from Brno, Czech Republic (Permalink)
Hi folks,
how about permition in Pisa, Siena, Bologna and Venice? We're 2 buskers (gtrs + sing) travelling around Italy, does andybody have any experiences?

Eventually some hints for stealth camping (or some garden) in these locations? Don't wanna spend zillions of Euros for camps..

Hey,
nobody replied you, but maybe you have experiences now? :D
I just joined this group, because I want to busk in Italy and I know that it´s forbidden in Bologna and in Verona it would work, but there it´s forbidden to sing... I´m searching for people who have experience in Italy.
Hope to hear from you
peace

Hi,
sorry for late answer but I'm kinda busy these days. Yeah, we have some experiences now. You can check out photos here http://kubikula1.rajce.idnes.cz/Eurotrip_2012/

Busking is according to italian people forbidden on every public place. But! In general, the police doesn't care at all.
So, for example: We have been busking in Venezia several times and just once policeman came and told us to leave, because we were standing in front of the church. So we moved 100 meters and busk again :)
This year, we were busking in Siena (goldmine in Palio time) and another policeman asked us for "busking permission". We were quite suprised and cause we didn't have any, we had to leave..

So the final advice:
If you have enough time and some money and you want to be totally legal, go to the City hall and ask for "busking (or street performing) permission"..
Another option is to try busking "illegaly". Just find good place, not too close to the monuments or whatever tourists like. If the police stops you, just be polite and leave..

Sorry for bad english and good luck with busking!
Bye,

Kuba
