Busking in Germany
Posted December 6th, 2012 - 5:38 pm by from Cordoba, Spain (Permalink)
Hi!

I am moving to Germany with my friend. He is a violinist and we would like to know how is it to busk there. We are probably going to the east (berlin o dresden most likely). He been doing that for 17 years now here in Spain and we would like to know if it is possible (or more or less "easy") to live from busking there. And I would really appreciate any other advice you might have for musicians in the east of Germany.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Ana!

Yes Germany is pretty good generally. There is a law that you have to move your pitch every half an hour but I've found it is usually not enforced.

Towns I have played are..
Waldshut Baden-Wurttemburg
Bramsche Lower Saxony
Wangen Baden-Wurttemburg
Meppen Lower Saxony
Baden-Baden Baden-Wurttemburg
Lorrach Baden-Wurttemburg
Buxtehude Lower Saxony
Duren Nordrhein-Westfalia
Monchengladbach Nordrhein-Westfalia
Rosenheim Bavaria
Magdeburg Saxony-Anhalt
Boppard Rheinland-Palatinate

Hey buddy, would you say that busking in Towns is way more better than in big cites like frankfurt, berlin or munich?

Berlin is good place.
You are not required any permission if you just busk on the street.
However, if you perform in a metro station you need to buy a permit. It costs around 7 EUR / day.
