Posted July 29th, 2008 - 8:01 pm by from Oakland, United States (Permalink)
Post carpool requests and ride offers here - especially for those of you coming from outside of SF - so that everyone can make it on Sunday, August 17th!

Hey, this sounds quite cool. i'm in San Francisco at this time, could you guys give me more info? i'm guessing it's a day out somewhere, would be cool to meet some folks, see a bit of the city/countryside.

Hey Paul,

Check out the two flagged threads at the top of this group, they kind of give you the origin of the 3rd Sunday Potlucks and what we want to accomplish with them. It's not so much a countryside thing, though. It's more about a centrally-located park that everyone can get to by car or public transportation. Regardless, hope to see you there!

Seems like every time we try Crissy Field, people complain about the lack of public transportation. Can't say I blame 'em (even though I always ride with people).

So maybe we should stick with something that works? I mean, obviously I'd love to have more feedback from people...but on the other hand, the event is less than three weeks away.

If we haven't heard anything by Friday, I say let's just stick with Delores and I'll send the invite out on Friday. Sound like a plan?

Oh, see, I wasn't aware that parking was so bad. I thought it was pretty good, since nobody had complained about it in here. That's where the disconnect comes in, of people telling you face-to-face what was inconvenient but people in here focusing on what was positive. Good stuff, though. That's what collaboration's all about!

Coupling that with the BART issue, we should keep in mind that the East Bay is having its own potlucks on 1st Sundays. They picked that weekend so that people who live there don't have to feel like they are forced to choose between one side of the water or the other. Plus, I'll actually be at their potluck this Sunday (August 3rd), so I can spread awareness. That's really where the power of carpooling should come into play. I'll promote that as well on Sunday when I see everyone (as well as work with the mods to make sure people realize that the 1st Sunday Potlucks in the East Bay are an off-shoot of the 3rd Sunday Potlucks in San Francisco). BTW, if anyone wants the link for their group, here it is:

And here's the link to their event on Sunday:

So, keeping in mind what you said about parking, about mixing it up for variety, the weather, etc. - let's do Crissy Field, yo! Besides, we can definitely brainstorm about future locations in person (which is so much easier and more fun than as words on a computer screen)!

Here's the event page I put together. When you RSVP, I'll bump you up to co-organizer. Anyone else interested as well? Zach? Richard?

Woo hoo! 3rd Sunday Potlucks!

I'm going to try to come to meet the SF CSers provided my friend doesn't need help with her wedding up North.

I'll be probably driving in from north oakland. If any east bay'ers want a ride, send me a message!

My hotel is on 4th street. A lift would be gratefully appreciated if anyone is around that area.

Hey Mollie - in case you read this before you come out to the potluck, I'd love to ride back with you after the event is over (if you're staying until the bitter end).
