Looking for a surfing buddy in Anglesea/Torquay
Posted April 23rd, 2011 - 10:44 am by from Jyvaskyla, Finland (Permalink)
Hey there,

I'm staying in Anglesea for the next 3 weeks and I'd like to find someone to go surfing with. I'm only a beginner but a very enthusiastic one, and I'd like to try to catch some more waves before going back home :) I just don't feel comfortable with going out there alone and would like to find someone to go with. I could go pretty much anytime, and either Anglesea or Torquay or other places nearby would be ok, as long as the surf doesn't get too rough. Please let me know if you're interested :)

Hey Ilona,

I live in Ocean Grove, about 20 minutes from Torquay/30 minutes from Anglesea. I'd be happy to go for a surf with you at some stage over the next three weeks, most days except Thursdays and Fridays suit me, and i generally go out 3-4 times a week. I usually surf at 13th Beach in Barwon Heads (http://www.swellnet.com.au/reports/barwon-heads/daily) so if you're willing to travel that little bit further, I'm a lot more familiar with the beaches around this way, but I might still be able to venture out Torquay at some stage. My only concern is that with the Rip Curl Pro currently on at Bells Beach there will be a lot of people around Torquay, but that finishes up relatively soon anyway.

Let me know if you're interested,

Hey James,

thanks for your message! I just confirmed my flight and I'll be leaving on May 16th, so any surfing would have to take place before that :) Barwon Heads is a nice spot but I just have to check if I can take the bus there, moving around is a bit difficult without a car here... another thing is that I would have to rent a board and wetsuit as I don't have my own gear, I can probably do that somewhere in Barwon Heads? With regard to Torquay, I don't think the Rip Curl thingy is gonna be a problem anymore as the Easter break and school holidays are pretty much over and there are not that many people around. But yeah let's see how we can arrange this!

Cheers, talk soon,
