CS from Tokyo needed for interesting film project!
As many of you have done already and many more will do, a friend and I are CouchSurfing this summer and autumn.
We are traveling from Berlin to San Francisco in August and at the beginning of October we plan to come to Tokyo for about 3 weeks. So many things it makes my head spin...
I am writing to all of you today because we are filmmakers on a very special journey and we need your help.
Our visit to San Francisco in August marks the start of an extensive one-year documentary film journey and will continue in Tokyo in October. The idea for the film came 3 years ago when I joined Hospitality Club, evolving into me becoming a CouchSurfer last year. It radically changed my perception of the world. Many discussions with members revealed to me that most of us feel the same!
I developed an idea to dedicate my next documentary film to inspire people to cross the border of fear and mistrust - and to open up and become a member of an exciting new world. To give you a general idea of the documentary, here are couple crucial questions I am following:
* What is the impact of the Internet and globalization on our behavior as societies?
* Is there a new form of society developing, one not bound by geographical borders & nationalities?
This is not a promotional film for CS, CS is rather the river which the film runs through. On our journey we are visiting people in Tokyo, Timbuktu (Mali), Goreme (Turkey), Bethlehem, San Francisco & Berlin. We start in San Francisco because it is where the "heart of the network" lies - the CouchSurfing BaseCamp. We follow Casey, the founder of CS, who supports our film project enormously, and travel with the BaseCamp people to the Burning Man-Festival. After that – Tokyo is our next destination!
Here is our request: Is there anyone who would like to host us between October 5th - October 24th in Tokyo? You would be helping us out immensely and supporting the film. We can pay you back with a *special thank you* credit in the film, yummy pasta, marvelous smiles and good vibes!
Your tasks would be:
Showing us some good and hidden places in Tokyo
Guiding us through the “jungle” Tokyo
Helping us out with translation (so you should speak Japanese fluently)
In the best case even hosting us in Tokyo (but this is not an obligation)
And if you know any, helping us out to get in touch with Japanese musicians
Thank you so much for reading! I’m really looking forward to hearing from you soon and meeting you - hopefully.
