Need hep with Comedy Documentary
Posted March 6th, 2011 - 12:47 pm by from Alameda, United States (Permalink)
Hello everyone! My name is Travis and I am a filmmaker from California. I will be traveling in Japan March 25th with some friends. My friends and I will be traveling for 2 weeks together, but after the 2 weeks they will be returning to America. I will be staying in Japan for several more weeks to continue working on my documentary.

The goal of the documentary is to focus on the unique humor and comedy of different cultures, to explore these cultures, and in general to find out what makes different people from different places laugh. So far I have met awesome success in New York city, and in November I was in India for the project as well.

My goals for Japan are to interview/speak with people who work in the television or the film industry, OR have had experience in comedy writing. Secondly, would be to speak with people who are either comedians or involved with local comedy somehow.

In my life I have traveled Japan three other times, and it's one of my favorite places forever and ever and ever to be in. It's a kind of second home to me. I'm very excited to explore Japan's brand of humor and sharing a more in-depth look at it with audiences.

I should mention one more thing: I'm not ONLY interested in meeting professionals and people in the industry, a lot of my project is footage of regular people telling their favorite funny stories and jokes. So the documentary benefits from anybody who has an interest in humor and has something to say about it.

So thank you very much for reading my post. I look forward to meeting more CS'ers and discussing the topic.

Love <3

Are you still planning to come to Tokyo?
If you stay til April, I would be happy to invite you to Asakusa Review at Asuka Theater. But due to this earthquake and everything, they canceled all the play this month. Hope you can find good footage in Tokyo if you still come here. yuki

Hello, and sorry for the late reply...

I have canceled my trip to Tokyo. Things were just looking too negative right now. It's such a sad situation, and it didn't seem like a wise time to fly in.

I AM planning to return though, so thank you for your response and invitation to the theater.

My documentary is very important to me, and Japan as a location is, too. I'm hoping to return in several months when things have gotten a little better.

Do you think you could still help me at a later date? In case I return a little later in the year?
