Cold/high altitude place in Uganda

Hi Guys.

I would like to ask for some help regarding a recommendation of place in your country. Particularly I am looking for equivalent of what in Kenya was Eldoret or Kericho. It means a place which is most of all cold (high altitude probably is the only excuse), not too big but not too small - still has some clubs and things going on, and eventually a great view would be an asset but it is optional. Please let me know your recommendations.

Thank you.

Try Fort Portal, though bit rainy sometimes, most beautiful region of the country and still interesting town to go out.

Guys, thank you very much for your responses. Could you please tell me what I should know about getting there from Kampala? How long does it take and how much does it cost? Any advices I should keep in mind? Can I get afternoon bus or sth so that I don't stop in Kampala? I will be on a way from Eldoret.

Hello. Im at the Rwenzori Mountains now and it is a nice place with cool weather, although be it quite. I dont think you will find any clubs but maybe in Kasese or Fort Portal. I came from Kabele (8 hours by matatu via Mgarara-Kasese) yesterday and the weather was cool and the Lake was peaceful and picturesque but it rained each day for a while.
Since u r coming from Eldoret it will take a full day to reach Kabele(10 hour night bus from Kampala) while Fort Portal is 4-6 hours from Kampala.
Another area that you may consider that is closer to u is The Mt Elgan area. Although i havent been there yet myself, i have heard that Sippee Falls is supposed to be really beautiful. Also Jinja is supposed to offer alot but hotter in temp.
Hope this helps...im heading down that way so i can be in Nairobi for the end of the month. Is Eldoret or is there something you have seen of great significance in the area from Nairobi to Kampala? P.S.- have already been to Lake Nakura and safariied out.

And as per cost I have found about 30,000 tsh (~$20usd) can get you from Kampala to Kabele or from Kabele to Kasese :)

Guys and do you ever drink tap water in Fort Portal? It feels so stupid paying for bottles but I can't find any other than overprotective tourist advice. So I can't really know how good or bad it is.
