The working hrs are 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Carry your ID proof. Plz note your Voter ID and Driving License are not valid ID proof's as per the Bhutan border authorities.

Do note that Thimpu/Paro is about 10-12 hrs from Jaigaon (Indian border is not NJP). Buses ofcourse do not leave beyond 12 noon from Phuntsholing but cabs can. There are not too many options to stay the night over on the way to Thimpu/Paro. There is a small Inn at Gedu which is about 100 odd kms from the base which has couple of crammed rooms.

Anyways, the above information is 3yrs old.

@Anjana: I was in Bhutan in September. I sure you will love it.

1) About cabs: You will find lots of cab guys at India-Bhutan border on Bhutan side. You will require two kind of permits. (a) Permit for yourself. Permit for person is avaiable 200 meters on your right as you enter the gate of Bhutan. They will give you 1 week permit and later you need to get it extend in Thimpu. (b) Permit for Private Indian vehicle: If you are planning to take Indian private car then you need to get permit done. You can ask at the immigaration office for the buidling to get permit need to done for vehicles.

Always keep both the permits with you.

(2) Get in touch with Tourism Council of Bhutan. They can arrange for your stay in 300 years olf house in Paro. We leaved there. Just go to their website, call at office and say you want to have country side exprience and that's why you want to stay at an old house in Paro.
