Trekking near Rishikesh in January
Posted January 21st, 2013 - 5:49 pm by from Seattle, United States (Permalink)
Hi all - I'm heading up to Rishikesh for the next couple weeks and looking for some good treks. Because of the weather I'm not sure whats open or what would be good. If anyone is up for a trekking buddy I'm around! I'm lacking in gear as I set off on this adventure in life 9 months ago never imagining I'd end up in the Himalayas, so any tips on where to get stuff would be great as well. Thanks!

Hi Samy,

For the Gear

There is ample options on gear available in Rishikesh itself , or if you are in & around Delhi you can check Adventure 18.

For the Trek : There are lot of options from simple to hard , Rishikesh is just the gateway to Himalayas. You will find lot of trekking companies in Rishikesh, they can give you flexiable options.

regards,

Thanks Anjana,

Do you have any gear stores to recommend? It's hard to tell which are overpriced/fake/etc.

If I am correct GMVN Trekking & Mountaineering Division hire out trekking equipment. They are at Muni-Ki-Reti, Rishikesh nearby Brunch Restaurant.

Dear Sandy,

My suggestion is as following
~ if You are in & around Delhi - Pick your trekking shoes from Adventure 18 (Pair Quecha is going cost 4000-4600, its sturdy for Shivaliks)
~ Rent out all your stuff ( From Sleeping bag to Tent) from GMVN, they are very economical.

If you specfic information on Adventure gear shopping, Call Rakesh Pant (094563 62345).He is good and knows all deatils of best gear available. Can refer good guide , if you are to go for solo trekking

Regards,
Anjana
