Treeking in India
Posted January 25th, 2013 - 1:05 am by from Reading, England (Permalink)
Hello so I am coming in India in about 1 week and I would really like to experience some trekking.

Doesn't have to be big mountain, I just want to enjoy some peaceful nature and calm.

From what I read most of the northern trail will be closed, but I would really appreciate to have some other opinion ?

Where should I go ? Is the north open ? Is there other great alternative ? Hidden place ?

Thanks for the help !

1. Manali: You can go to Visist area and then you can go for Most beautiful trek till hill of the mountain. you can see that place on Youtube by searching ANKUR in Manali. you will find video three boys who has visited there for tracking. Temp these days will be very very Cold.

2.Rishikesh : you will find many places for Traking, temp is again very low here.

3. Karumba Village: Tamil nadu is the state and its in Southern Regoin of India. you can go there for Forest track and if you are lucky than you can find elephants as well. Temp will be pleasent this time.

hope you can get idea out of it. for further information you can PM me or call me@ 00919356007817.

Thank you for your advice !

I'm just sad that I could'nt see them before due to the job rush.

Right now i'm looking at the Uttarkhand region as both of you have suggested.

Is it simple to go around gear up and do daily trek ? Or is tour essential ?

Also I assume it is gonna be pretty easy to gear up once there ?

Edit :

Also what is very cold ? From what I have seen it vary greatly if function of where you come from ! Are we talking around 0 or around -20 ?

Thank you !

Hey,

I was just reading about this Glacier - Bagini, and some of the trek organization are doing trek in March onwards Bagini Glacier. (its a 8 day trip)

Good Treks in Uttarkhand are
- Roopkund
- Tunghnath & Chandrashila
- Dayara Bughal
- Valley of Flowers ( Open only in monsoon)
- Kuari Pass Trek

Would suggest, go to some trekking & Adventure organization - Even if you don't hire them , they give good advice on

Treks & Timings
Gear required
and all other information for trekking in particular region
