Volunteer/Farm activities with a six year old
Posted September 22nd, 2012 - 9:41 am by from Bangalore, India (Permalink)
Hi,

The upcoming summer vacation 2013 for children. I'd like to stay in farm for 15-20 days with my daughter who will be 6 and few months older by May 2013. I'd like to help/assist in a farm. We'd like a budget stay. Any suggestions or anyone who has done something of this kind. Would like it if any one has anyother ideas. Or a volunteer of any kind but where I can take my daughter and she can be of assistance.

Thanks
Nandini

Dear Nandani,

Its a great idea of taking your daughter to the rural experience of India.... although Ladakh may not be a great choice for this kind of experiment, as farm lands are small and villages may not be close to them... life is really down to earth and accommodation nil around such areas. Suggest you travel to Leh and stay in good budget properties (Mantra Cottage, Changspa Rd) and around it you could feel the farm activity.... Visit the Donkey Sanctuary to feed the needy animals and travel to Nubra for plucking seabuckthorn berries . Alternately the real experience of agri tourism lies in mainland north India and you could give that a thought later.

Experience of Ladakh is much different and un comparable to anywhere on this planet.

Do connect if you wish me to detail more or above.
Hope you plan well and have a great time.
