Cine-philes Couchsurfing Movie Night Nov 15th, 19:30 @ Lokativ
Posted November 5th, 2011 - 6:01 am by from Vienna, Austria (Permalink)

It's the third instalment of the free couchsurfing movie night at the Lokativ, the bar/café with its pleasant screening lounge and easy-going atmosphere.

It's on Tuesday November 15th (yes, that's the evening of the Fleet Foxes concert, I know), and starts at 19h30 .

The Lokativ is at Arnezhoferstraße 12, off U1/U2 underground station Praterstern, exit Venediger Au.

This time the occasion will feature movies from the 2000's/the zeroes/the noughties. Since this decade has seen the release of more films than any previous decade, the choice obviously is that much harder. Here's my personal shortlist of recommendations:

These movies I've already seen and would be prepared to watch again:

24h party people
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Hot Fuzz
I Heart Huckabee’s
Incident At Loch Ness
The Ladykillers (2004)
Das Leben der Anderen
The Life and death of peter sellers
Lost In La Mancha
The Man Who Wasn’t There
Meet The Parents
Minority Report
Monsters Inc.
The Pledge
The Prestige
El Secreto De Sus Ojos
Shaun Of The Dead
Le Silence de Lorna
Stranger Than Fiction
Synecdoche New York
The Time Machine
Tropic Thunder

These I have not yet seen, but would be interested in:

1 Hour Photo
4 luni, 3 saptamâni si 2 zile
Los Abrazos Rotos
The Butterfly effect
Children Of Men
Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs
A Cock & Bull Story
De Battre Mon Coeur S’Est Arrêté
An Education
À L’Emploi Du Temps
Encounters At The End Of The World
The Fountain
Ghost World
Grizzly Man
Hot Tub Time Machine
The Hurt Locker
The Illusionist
I’m Not There
In This World
In the Loop
The Kreutzer Sonata
El Labeirinto Del Fauno
Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events
Little Miss Sunshine
A Londoni Férfi
Me & You & Everyone We Know
Michael Clayton
Nirgendwo In Afrika
Notes On A Scandal
Of Time and the City
The Others
Pour Elle
Revolutionary Road
Russkiy Kovcheg
Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi
Shadow of the Vampire
La Stanza Del Figlio
Team America: World Police
La Tourneuse de Pages
Les Triplettes De Belleville
Vera Drake
Waltz With Bashir

If you've spotted any particular favorites in these lists, or have any additional recommendations, post your choices below. If I don't receive any particular suggestions,

I would choose to screen these two movies by default:

El Secreto de Sus Ojos
In The Loop

I'm looking forward to your feedback, and to seeing you on the 15th!

I sure was able to spot some movies I would like to see in this, hehe, 'elaborated' list!
These would be:

Me & You % Everyone we know
Les triplettes de Belleville
Synecdoche New York (!!)

yeah .. I guess that's enough for now, haha!
I'm really looking forward to seeing "El secreto de sus ojos", though! ;)

Hey, nice to hear from you!

After tallying up all the feedback received so far, right now it looks as if the chosen movies are going to be "...Ojos" and "Memento".

See you!

Albert -

Can you let us know the order of the films you will show, in case we want to see only one movie and we have seen the other.

Hi Daria!

The schedule is shaping up thus:

1. 19:45 - 21:55 : El Secreto De Sus Ojos
2. 22:00 - 23:53 : Memento (chosen by popular demand)

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Thank you for showing such a beautiful movie, Albert (I only stayed for the first one).

Wish we all had more chance to talk with each other, but I'm looking forward to next gatherings.

It was a pleasure to have you there! And a pleasure too to feel such a concentrated atmosphere from everyone present (in spite of the coffee machine going off every once in a while in the background).

Next round is on Dec 20, this time with movies from the 80's! Sortlist of suggestions & event post to follow!

Till then, happy advent, everybody!
