HC/CS camping all together
Posted June 5th, 2008 - 10:14 am by from Playa del Carmen, Mexico (Permalink)
Hi all
Last year I attended Sziget under the rain.
It was great fun, take a look at pics:
http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/oliver_luni/CouchSurfing/15_8_07_Sziget/

Some of us from HC/CS camped together in the same spot and had a real good time and great frindship was binding us.

As HC and CS are united by the same feelings, why not make a big camping area just for us? maybe those coming first can put their tents in such a way to take more space and then just free the space as members arrive!

Let me know what you think.
How many of you are going to camp there? For those never been... Sziget is a world on it's own.
You can spend a whole week inside without ever needing to exit, there is everything you need!
You CANNOT bring stuff inside like bottles or alcohol (unless you are skilled as I was, but it takes many hungarian police to beat a Sicilian, that's a fact!)

Peeter, as a Sziget veteran, will definitely bring us up to speed once we get closer, right Peeter? Also, we're getting some great numbers of participants who know their way around that are eager to help out.

We're hoping to individually mail out those details, say late July/early August, so keep your eyes peeled on your e-mailbox.

Please feel free to mail group moderators and meeting organisers if you've any pressing questions/ideas/suggestions in the meantime--or just post them here in the group.

It will all come together great, I'm sure, and good times will be had by all!

Peace!
Greg

Depending on how goes the trip down to Budapest, I will hopefuly be there already on day -1. Since I don't want to create a confusion we will make a topic later on about the specifics of meeting up, camping, etc (hopefully mid-July-ish).

We will probably have larger meets-n-greets (depending on interest) on -1, 0 and 1 day. For the rest, we will mark up some times and places where people who want can meet to enjoy music/drinks/foods/partying/etc together without all the hassle of calling and texting eachother beforehand every time.

Most probably, however, I think everything will sort itself out on its own :)

surprise I do all my best to be with you ( isn't it Massimo...I'm sure I met you but where lol )
So I really hope to join you and member of HC in the same area of camping. I've never been there and I'm curious of all details. Is it easy to spend a whole week inside the festival living in a tent What abourt accomodation, money you need food...etc etc If you could give me some advices ? I'm trying to motivate some other CS and probably I'll come with my brother a non CS members
let me know what are you thinking so as to arrange something

PS: I'm not on HC

Don't know if this map will help some sort of meeting organisation, but here it is (and bigger in the original here:

Sziget

It's as good a time as any to brush up on my French, too...

yes it looks bgreat , just post something about the specific spot before we go there...

+ it will be good to get orginized for the after "chillin pary" on the balaton!

It sounds like a great idea.
We're going to Sziget for the second time, and it's not sure yet if it's just the both of us or with a group of friends this time. So if it's the case that we're going alone maybe it's an idea to camp all together!

Mick: Yes, you can stay at the festival for the whole week, there's everything you need (you can eat/sleep/shower/buy everything/get cash money there). But it's still really nice to get into the city though :)

last year we camped on the grounds on the right of world stage facing the stage.
it was great because we were listening to great music even by just chilling out at our tents!
I think I can manage to be there already on tuesday and can help "reserve" some space.
If we camp our tents "wide" enough to occupy a large ground then we can move them and let other HC/CSers join us!
I hope many of you opt for this, if not I will do it anyway with the other HC members (anton for example from HU helped us a lot!)
Mick mon ami!!
It will be great to party crazily together again!!

We will definately join you for the camp !
We will be there already on the 11th.
See you there !

good buses will arrive on 11th so we must find everyone to have our area CS/HC. Maybe we can have a big fanal with CS/HC written for the new comers

Posted July 19th, 2008 - 11:36 am by from Playa del Carmen, Mexico (Permalink)
I honestly think it's still early.
however, some of us can make an appointment on 11th and start camping and taking place. (ex. Appointment at entrance of camping site near Wolrd stage)
A couple of us can leave their mobile phones as reference
Tents MUST be initially placed as wide as possible allowing other HC/CS members to join in.

Hi to you all
I am going. Because my friends are still in doubt “to go or not to go”. I will join you and I approximately will arrive on the 11 of August. I think it will be handy to meet some one @ the entrance and then look for a place to set up (putt up) our/my tent(s).

it's extra-service voucher from 'Cool-Tours' travel agency (Germany, Switzerland, Austria, oth.) that allowed to put tents in special "Cool-Tours" camping area in Obudai-island during Sziget. Also: 1 free beer at the beverage stand on the Cool-Tours camping area, certain 24-hour storage of valuables with possibility to charge your mobile or camera, 50 % discount on city excursions and Danube cruise.

I don't have any tent so I'm looking for a shelter, if you bring your tent Daniel I'd be happy to share it with you! I'm coming on the 13th so I won't be able to reserve space, I'll join the big CS team later.

I would be interested to be updated on any plans for CSers to camp together. This is my first Sziget, and I am in Budapest already, will be here until September (at least). I will have a 2-person tent, and am willing to consider letting someone "surf my couch" :)

Hi everybody,

I'm coming with one friend, she is also on couchsurfing. We both like to meet new people/make new friend and camp all together.. We can help reserving place because we also will arrive pretty early the 11th. I think a stand at the entry marked with: 'couchsurfing camping', with people who can explain you where the couchsurfing camping exactly is, would be very helpful.

Maybe we can make special couchsurfing wristbands ;)
ps: it will be my third Szigetfestival and I'm really looking forward to it!! :)

Posted July 28th, 2008 - 8:32 am by from Playa del Carmen, Mexico (Permalink)
Hi all.
So i agreed with Anton (from HC Budapest) to meet on 11th morning and place our tents.
For those who want to join us, this is my mobile phone:
0039 348 8603395
Just text me and I will indicate where we are.
No extra wristbands please, we already have the Sziget one, more than enough I would say! ;-)
Don't wait at the main entrance, go towards the "WORLD MUSIC STAGE" and wait at the "camping" entrance on the left (looking away from the stage).
Most of us have bigger tents so those without, no fear, you can just surf easily!

Please remember it's forbidden to take liquids/drinks on the island.
You risk to waste precious money if you do try to take stuff inside.
I managed to smuggle some vodka but... i was very careful and sly... ;-)
There are big bouncers at the entrance who check everything.
Try to disguise your drinks if you can or hide them inside your sleeping bags so they don't feel the bottles if they touch them.

Anna!! good to meet you again after Istanbul!!
Maybe they'll have fried prawns in Sziget too!

Hi!

I see you are organizing very well!
I'm also thinking on coming to Sziget by myself...I think I will arrive arround the 13th, and I dont have a tent...could some of you let me surf a tent...

Massimo, I'm a friend of Sara Zerini from Florence, do you know her? I note your phone, I'll tell you something when I'll be in Budapest!

See you soon!

Hello!
We are coming to Sziget too (there are 3 of us) and we would like to camp at the CS campsite too. We are not sure yet when we arrive but probably the 13th. It would be great if you could save a spot for us, our tent is just small;)
See you there!! Lets have a party..

@Mireia81:
yes, Sara told me you would get in contact, great!

@Teuntje:
we'll try our best however it will not be so easy. I can assure you that it gets rather tight...
Plan is to make a big circle of tents, as wide as possible, and those who fit in are welcome!
Bring Candles if you can...it's really nice to have dinner on the floor all together in front of candles.... oh i'm so romantic! ;-)

@Adrien:
ehm...I cannot guarantee that... Pastis/Ouzo is not atypical drink in Hungary... you'll have to bring a bottle and hide it really well!

@ALL: are we or are we not HC/CS members?? then, this is my statement: NOBODY will be without a place to sleep!!! (i'm coming by car and was thinking of bringing an extra tent for you guys, just in case, and my tent can fit 2 (3 small like me!)

Meet you all there!!

Hi all...
I am coming to Budapest during the Festival. Actually I just learnt that there is a festival ! I'll visit my cs friends so I cannot join to the camp but I want to meet Csers who attends to camp there. Planning to join the festival in day time but I saw that the daily ticket is not very cheap :( Do you have any idea or information about the cheap ways to attend the festival daily?? :)

love

belgin

Posted July 31st, 2008 - 9:56 am by from Playa del Carmen, Mexico (Permalink)
Belgin,
security in Sziget is quite hard, if you don't have a bracelet you will be surely kicked out.
if I knew a cheap way to attend, I would have used it myself!
;-)
It would be nice to meet you there anyway, I miss Turkey and wonderful Turkish people!

Hi Sziget lovers,
Lucie and Tom will be there for sure. We´re keen to meet all you CSers.
And the world music stage is the PERFECT place to be, excellent choice. We will be there about August 12 we think - will there still be room for our little tent? If not we could try to make it on Aug 11 ...
Great idea Massimo,
Tom and Lucie

Hi everybody!

I decided to sziget this year, at the very last moment... May I join you at the CS camp? It looks great, and very international. I love it.

I will hitch hike from paris to budapest, leaving on the 8th...

See you then when it's ok!

Hi guys,

I can't wait for the festival to start and would really love to camp with you. I'm still considering buying a tent, but I'm running on a pretty tigh budget, so it would be great if I can surf somebody's "couch". I'm probably gonna be in Budapest on 11th, late at night - 11-12 pm - and I'll probably try to find the island as quickly as possible and then join you. I've got Massimo's phone and Vesi's (another Bulgarian CSer), so I guess it shouldn't be a problem.

Please, if someone is willing to spare me some space in his tent, drop me a message, it's gonna be greatly appreciated :)

Cheers from Bulgaria

Take care !

so the nexrt week i will be in the island, i'll go to another campement reserved to "hamac" (is it the same word in english?) where the tent cannot be placed (but anything can stop the hamac!!) but near the world scene and the dalamt of course.

try to make a big flag "couchsurfing/hospitalityclub" to recognize the campin order to say hello and share some drink and if you meet a french guy with a hat and some ballon upon his head, say "hello" to him because you'll have great chance that it will be me :)

Hi everyboby!

...4 days to wait!

I'll arrive on sunday, the 10th, spend the night in a guesthouse named Mellow Mood Central (www.mellowmoodhostel.com) with 3 of my friend. Will I have the pleasure to meet some CS there during this night?

On monday, we plane (depend of the night...) to go early on the island and to camp with you, so have a good trip to Budapest and see you soon!
