dearest couch buddies and new yorkers,

my name is chantilly. i am from brooklyn, and i am (obviously) a musician and a couchsurfer :)

i was hoping to give this a shot.. i've made an album. i'm proud of it and want folks to listen. people have compared what i do to:

* she & him
* cat power
* jenny lewis
* feist
* other good people

you can download the whole shebang at chantillysongs.bandcamp.com, and find out a little more about it/ me at myspace.com/chantillysongs. i have absolutely no big budget, no pr company, no label. i do this all myself, and am relying on people who like to discover new music to get the word out ;)

this is what the cover art looks like:

i know this kind of self-promoting post can be annoying, but please know that i'm NOT trying to spam everyone (although you might find the message x-posted in a few other places.) i'm sure you can understand how hard it is for new musicians to find an audience, and i'd love to talk with anyone who has anything to say about my post. i'm just trying to find every avenue possible to find people that might actually enjoy what i do.

thanks so much for reading... i hope some of you like what we've done. xoxo.

ps- if you want to trade links, and think i might enjoy listening to something of yours, i'd love to hear it :)

Hi Channierose from Brooklyn,
I am Jana Laven from San Antonio, TX. We have a family band with our children: Niko 24 and Rachel 17, with four CD's (self-produced) and regular gigs. You can check us out at www.sonicbids.com/thelavens. We have a couple of friends in NYC area and are trying to help some very dear friends of ours build their NYC audience as they tour through there in March. Susan Gibson (Grammy winner for writing Wide Open Spaces of Dixie Chick fame) and Jana Pochop will be heading up to play the Rockwood in mid-March.
Any info or ideas or friends you can muster to go see them would be greatly appreciated and recompensed should you ever decide to tour to Texas. When I get away from the firewall here at my day job teaching high school Theatre I will check out your myspace music.
