Free evening Culture Slam event March 1
Posted February 22nd, 2013 - 6:45 pm by from Berlin, Germany (Permalink)
Hi All. There is an upcoming free evening at Sprachsalon in Neulkoelln called the Culture Slam. It's happening at March 1st, from 17.30 on (2-3 hour event). Come, join, learn and share.

The theme of the
gathering is Your culture and how you
fit in (or do not fit in)
. We all have identities that make us unique but can also limit us (based
on the color of our skin, our gender, sexuality, ethnicity, language, age,
ability, class, religion, etc…). We all have struggles that these identities
create for us. And we all have our unique Paths in life towards happiness,
balance, and success. The Culture Slam
is an evening for us to learn more about each other’s unique cultural
experiences and perhaps to share our own.

We will have
the following presenters and more:

Tomer Mazie (Israel) will talk about how the Palestinian Israeli
conflict affects everyday lives of people. In English with German
Rachel Sever (USA) will perform spoken word poetry in English with
German summary.
Arne Bardelle (Germany) is going to do a rap in German.
Christopher (Malawi) will tell a story in Chichewa with German translation.
Jordan Kynes (USA) will recite a poem by Robert Service in English.

If you would also like to share your
story in poetry, music, storytelling, etc… in English, German, or any other
language (though you should arrange for someone to translate or summarize into
German), there will be an opportunity to sign up for a 5-minute slot during the
evening. After the presentations, we will have a 30-minute Questions and
Answers time.

This is a multi-cultural, multi-lingual evening.
We invite people from diverse cultural heritages or experiences to join us, to
listen, and to participate if they like. We invite people from all ages to
come, including youth, young adults, and elders.

If you have any questions, please emailmail@sprachsalon-berlin.de or call 030/62732911. Contact can be directed in most languages. Event page: http://www.facebook.com/events/571981559479141/
