Looking for Temporary Housing and a Job!
Posted March 12th, 2013 - 12:38 am by from Boulder, United States (Permalink)
Hey everyone,

I'm moving to Sebastopol and I'm super excited to make some new friends and become a part of a new community! I'm just finishing up almost a year of traveling around and am excited to put down some solid roots.

I have some friends in the area and we are all trying to get a place together, but I need a place to stay temporarily while we are looking. Best case scenario would be to find somewhere to work in exchange for housing for a little while, but I am super flexible and open to any ideas you may have.

I am also looking for a job in the area. I am an experienced organic farmer/builder, I really enjoy working with plants and animals, I'm a really good worker, and I'm an honest, genuine person. I'm very interested in learning more about permaculture, natural building, and communal living. I am particularly interested in exploring new ways that humans can live together that promote harmony, connectedness with nature and cooperation with each other. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Thanks for listening,

Hi Anthony!

I'm writing you more as moral support and to congratulate you on finding such an awesome area like ours to settle down in. I wish I had a place to offer you to stay or a job I could tell you about, but alas, I'm unemployed myself and our house is not very large. I'm over in Cotati which is about 10 - 15 minutes from Sebastopol (depending on which side you're driving to). Cotati itself is also a sweet spot you may want to check out for a temporary situation as well. Lots of students here so I'm sure all kinds of unique living opportunities in addition to Sebastopol. Not to mention driving here the back way from/to Sebastopol is largely country roads and has a nice view.

If you aren't native to the area and you'd like some advice or local perspective feel free to hit me up. I owned a house in Sebastopol with my ex where we ran our own personal mini-farm. We had chickens, ducks, sheep, pigs, and a cat. I loved it and while we didn't really live communally with anyone we did have the occasional roommate, and always had tons of friends coming to sleep extendedly, help, house sit, and stay for prolonged periods of time.

And while I was getting back on my feet my boyfriend and I did live in a house with 6 people for a while in Rohnert Park. Talk about an adventure! We did knit the place together and had family style dinners. It was great in it's own right, but our landlord was a little off her rocker so it didn't last for all that long. I'd love to hear what experience(s) you work out, and about your travels.

Feel free to give me a call some time.

Smiles and hugs! And good luck!

Oh and Meetup.com may be able to provide you some more help if you find people with common interests.

Hey Marlene!

Thanks for the heart felt response. I'm getting lots of great help from people and I'm sure things are going to work out great! Seems like there is just a warm vibe drawing me to that area.

See you up there!
