The Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala needs our support to bring awareness to the current struggles of indigenous Guatemalans fighting for justice in the genocide trial against Rios Montt and for justice in the death of Exaltación Marcos Ucelo of Xinca Indigenous Parliament who was kidnapped and killed by "un-identified men" for organizing against resource extraction by US-based company, Tahoe Resources. The kidnapping and murder has everything to do with the intersection of the genocide cases, US development aid and indigenous environmental activism. Would you mind spreading the word about the events and actions NISGUA is organizing to raise awareness?
Events are free although donations will be collected since the Guatemala accompaniment program depends on community contributions. For more info on the events, visit: http://jenneristau.wix.com/solidarity.
