• My boyfriend Tommy and I are living in Lexington, KY, and we're planning a "university tour" throughout the northeast for a few days. We're visiting, Harvard, Brown, Yale and Princeton. Not for school purposes, but simply to see the campus and check out the surrounding area. We need a place to stay on Wednesday night, Feb. 26.

We're visiting a lot of places in a short amount of time, but we are excited and ready to make the most of the experience! Tommy is 23, I'm 22 and we both just graduated last May. Trying to find our way in this place they call the "real world."

Oh my god, please use the Couchsurf buttons and stop posting surf requests.

sorry. There are SO many people who don't know proper etiquette.

I am new to the site so I didn't know.

I have requested more than 10 people and have gotten no replies, which is why I posted here. I saw others do the same.

Don't follow the bandwagon - this site is all about people helping others out. If they don't reply, respect that they are busy and contact other people. If nobody replies, either have a plan B (Hotel, hostel) or cancel your trip. Since you are new, please be patient with the system. CS works on references, and the more experience you get, the easier it is to surf.

It may be hard to get that first host or surfer at first, but a great way to build up your references is going to your local meets. It looks much better to hosts knowing you wanted to join CS for the community (such as joining a few months early) instead of just saving a few dollars for a place to crash.

It takes a lot to admit a stranger into their home, or to find some place to stay. For your own safety as well, please carefully consider each person's profile before sending a request.

Welcome to couchsurfing - hope this helps!
