• Hi
I've not long got back to Bangor and was wondering how many of you would be interested in regular meets and events? I've had some experience of CS groups elsewhere so wanted to throw the suggestion out there...
I am aware that Polyglot meetings were happening in the Fat Cat on Friday's over the summer - is this something that still has interest (I know some people who attended have now left the area and there seems to be some confusion as to whether they are still on or not).
Also, I'm keen to organise regular events - walks, day trips, cinema trips or whatever... if anyone else is keen, post it here and I'll try and organise something soon.
Hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes, but would like to meet some more couchsurfers in the area and don't mind sorting stuff out for the time being.

Hi, I've just moved to Bangor myself, so I'd be up for meeting folk too.
    Private_message
    Sounds good! I'm interested.

Hi, yes I'd be up for this too. It's always nice meeting new people and making new friends :) x

I am up for regular meeting.

    Ok folks.
So what night suits most people for a regular meeting? Fridays seemed popular over the summer, so if this is still the case, shall we stick with that? Unfortunately, I'm away this Friday til Sunday but am definitely keen to meet folks next week. My brother will be down and I'm trying to persuade him that Couch Surfing is a great way to meet people, so I'll bring him along!

Also, I've set up a facebook group for the group -
    https://www.facebook.com/groups/544068865608746/
So please feel free to join and add friends. Just figured it would be easier to set up events and communicate with folks.

    Hey,

I think regular meetings are a very good idea, I'll come :)

But personally I don't use Facebook, so I won't be able to participate in any discussion or any sort of communication if you have them exclusively on Facebook.
Also, why have a Facebook group if you want to meet Couchsurfers, who would most likely have a profile on Couchsurfing.com?

Sorry if I sound a bit negative, I think it's great that somebody shows some initiative, I just very much dislike Facebook.

That's fine. It's just I know from experience that most people use Facebook more, and my previous local CS group used it a lot.
Figured it was just another option for folks, but obviously we will still use this group to let everyone know what's happening and to get feedback.

Id prefer to avoid the evening because Id be back to llandudno by bus and I wouldnt be able to catch the last one, but along the day, Im up
    Private_message
Is there anything happening this Friday at Fat Cat then?
    Private_message
I'd be interested in a meet up tomorrow too
    Private_message
I'd be up for meeting tomorrow too.
    Private_message
Ok. As there's a lot of folks from Llandudno interested, I don't mind meeting during the day at the moment. How's about next Wednesday afternoon...4pm in the Fat Cat? I can't be any earlier as I have a job interview, but Wednesday's are usually good for students too (unless you all do sports! :p )

hiiiii is anybody up for a drink this saturday in the afternoon????? coffee????? :)
    Private_message
Just been to Cineworld to see Skyfall with Dave. You should've come out to play.
Maybe up for a drink this Sat. Where? In Llandudno?
    Private_message
not in Llandudno necessary, we could try in Bangor, how about at Costa Cafe on saturday at 14:00??
    Private_message
Not sure what time I'll be back tomorrow, but can pop into Costa on my way home from dog training and see if anyone is still there (probably around 3pm). Don't worry, I won't have a four-legged friend with me!

    Hi you guys!

I just joined and feel like I've missed all the fun. Anything happening in the next few weeks? How about lunch at Blue Sky on Saturday? Any thoughts?

I always read messages a few days too late. I may be going up to Snowdon this Saturday with a French CSer. She hasn't replied me yet. Will see.

I now have a job (kinda) so when I find out my shifts on Friday, I will stick up a few events...there's a Xmas craft fair in Colwyn Bay this weekend, as well as the Anglesey Winter Show. Plus, I'm more than happy to go for adventures with folks...quite fancy Caernarfon, Porthmadog and Newborough (Anglesey) over the next few weeks, but definitely open to suggestions.
Like I said, once I get sorted, I'll stick up an "event/ activity" and see who else is free. If anyone else would like to organise anything, please feel free (don't want to seem like I'm take over the group!)

The christmas fair in Colwyn Bay sounds brilliant

Just catching up with CS stuff and wondering whether this happened? I'm interested in the Polyglot meetings, especially to exchange English with either Welsh, French or German.
    Private_message
A lot of people chipped in conversation but I don't think much happened since. It's Bangor for you! Quite often ideas posted here but nobody actually carried them out. I think only Astrid managed to put something together last year. When I was living in Newcastle, the group there was much more active and committing. Hope New Year brings some resolution.

Personally, languages have never been a strong point for me, but if there is enough interest I'm sure we can get Polyglot meetings started again. Feel free to start a new topic for it (I hate monopolizing this wall!). We're meeting this Thursday, 8pm, at the Fat Cat and I hope to get some future stuff organised there, so would be good if you can make it.
